Not especially keen on any of them. Emmeline is an OK name but reminds me of the Hot Chocolate song (Emma, Emmaline) about the girl who kicked herself because she couldn’t be a star.

NewDogOwner · 22/10/2024 16:53

Neveah was made popular from that tv show 16 and Pregnant. Hendrick= gin.

RaraRachael · 22/10/2024 16:58

Emmaline is the only one that's remotely like a name to me.

Isle- is it Eye-lee
Safia - nk idea
Heaven spelt backwards - just why???

MissRoseDurward · 22/10/2024 17:00

Aramis is an old man's overpowering aftershave

Aramis was one of the Three Musketeers.

I like traditional names which can have several short forms - Alexander, Christopher, Nicholas etc. Or for girls, C/Katherine, Elizabeth, Margaret.

allmycats · 22/10/2024 18:00

It just looks as if you can’t spell.

localnotail · 22/10/2024 18:12

I used to work with a guy from Egypt, one of his daughters was called Saffia. With two "F"s. Its cute but I would think a its a Muslim name - but its the nicest one on your list.

I also like Hendrick though isn't it a brand of gyn?

All other names sound made up and strange:
Islie - why not Isla?
Emmeline - Naphthalene (moth balls). Why not Emma or Emily?
Neveah - only if you are Irish. otherwise why??

sorry!

FayCarew · 22/10/2024 18:25

Why would you need to be Irish to use Neveah? @localnotail

Yes, he becomes a monk in the end. However it is now associated with a bargain bin aftershave like Old Spice

momtoboys · 22/10/2024 18:41

Is naming your child Nevaeh really a thing? I thought it was a joke that it was a name that people in the US named their child because they thought it was so clever.

Pemba · 22/10/2024 18:41

Aramis was quite expensive Last time I looked! Nice smell. My dad uses it, it was thought of as quite classy when it came out.

Booksandwine80 · 22/10/2024 18:58

Nevaeh is ridiculous and not a name

localnotail · 22/10/2024 19:08

FayCarew · 22/10/2024 18:25

Why would you need to be Irish to use Neveah? @localnotail

I dont know, because its and Irish name? My personal opinion. Could be wrong.

Xyz1234567 · 22/10/2024 19:22

How about binning all of those and going for a real, normal, classy name?
I'm a teacher and the number of bloody ridiculous, made-up names/spellings is getting beyond the pale. Ski, Pocahontas, Disney and Armani. Yes I have taught them all and I just feel so sorry for the kids condemned to a life burdened with such nonsense.
Feel better for getting that off my chest.

MaggieBsBoat · 22/10/2024 19:25

emmeline is lovely. Rest not so much.

re gods etc, what about Cybele, Hera or Iris?

FayCarew · 22/10/2024 19:35

@localnotail , it's not an Irish name. It's 'heaven' backwards.

VioletCrawleyForever · 22/10/2024 19:41

Emmeline is alright. The rest are bad.

LlynTegid · 22/10/2024 19:44

None of them to be honest.

LouCritt · 22/10/2024 20:29

midlifeattheoasis · 22/10/2024 07:37

I don't like any of them, but particularly dislike Hendrix /Hendrick

How about Edmund? ☺️

Atishooo · 22/10/2024 09:51

Nevaeh is just fucking awful. And always followed with ‘it’s heaven backwards. We know.

Hendricks is just weird as a name to me. It’s hard sounding, It’s a gin.

Islie is cute, is it made up?

The only Emmeline I know hates it and goes by Emma.

Was going to change Hendrick to Hendrix, also like Edmund. ☺️

Islie - I's spell it Isley like the surname. It looks a bit like it would rhyme with Wisley, so I'd probably choose something else. Miley or Kylie?
Emmeline - I prefer Emma and Emily
Safia - Safiya is nice
Neveah - No

Hendrick - gin. Hendrix, Henry, Hendry or Henrik? Gordon? Tanqueray?

Changed Hendrick to Hendrix on my list, also added Edmund. Removed Islie & Neveah. X

Hendricks is gin

I have changed it to Hendrix + also added Edmund to the boys. ☺️

Edmund and Emmeline are both great and have good short versions if they don't like the name!

Ed and Em! Or Eddie and Emme/ie/y. Versatile, which helps them as they grow up.

Are you getting mixed up with Niamh?

I prefer Hendrick to Hendrix, but one is gin and the other overdosed at 27, so I'm not wild about either.

Just name them for the adult they'll be for most of their lives, better to grow into a name than grow out of it.

Love Emmeline but really dislike the others sorry.

This.

Edmund is nice! Hendrix does not compare, IMO.
