Need the most unusual/out there boys names you can think of

Baby due Jan 2025. Already have a girl's name picked - don't want to say what as it's too outing if anyone knows me on here, it's an unusual rarely used name but lovely and everyone we've told really likes it and we are very happy with it.

We can't agree on a boy's name at all. I already have a DS (previous partner) with quite an unusual name but still in the top 100 but my DH definitely likes more "out there" names!
Give me your favourite unique boy names for inspiration please! We've looked at thousands of names on lists and just can't find one we like for a boy whatsoever. I know we have plenty of time (and might not even have a boy) but with my son I had his name picked before I was ever even pregnant so I'm struggling not knowing!

I liked Willoughby, Amadeus, Theodore, Thaddeus, Samael, Alejandro, Raphael.

we picked Felix Leon, not realizing we basically called our son cat cat 😂

Amadeus and Raphael were both on my list - DH does like Amadeus but prefers bloody Lazarus

Just be careful with very unusual names as too out there and they may not thank you. Maybe give them a couple of more ordinary middle names as well.

Just saw someone suggested Rex. That’s a great name and one I considered for my son.

Edited

That's what I'm thinking - if DH is insistent on his choice for first name then I've said we need a couple of more "normal" middle names

As a former teacher, let me say if you do choose an 'out there' name, your son's teachers will judge you and your son negatively before they ever meet him. And your son may attract bullying.

But otherwise it's great idea, so go right ahead! 😉

Jehoshaphat. Or similar - the Bible is full of weird names. I tried to persuade my daughter to call her son Gygax but she wouldn't 😪. (It's the surname of the guy who invented Dungeons and Dragons.)

StiggyZardust · 11/08/2024 19:35

I went to a baby group years ago. There was a boy called Berrigan.

Hmmm. Nope. I have a nearly unique name and apart from having to explain its origin have had no problems.

You negatively judged a child by their name before you even met them? That says far more about you than the parents who chose the name.

Octave, Linton, Granville, Aston and my favourite Augustus (Gus). Your taste seems a bit out there so what about Aslan 🤔

Ed Byrne’s sons are called Cosmo and Magnus, I’ve always thought they were out there choices. I like them, but personally am a more traditional name person.

What about Leonidas or Lucretius if he likes Lazarus? I’m sorry I just don’t think Lazarus is fair …
edited to add they shorten to plain old Leo and Luc

Indigo. Indy for short.

Does your DH know the story of Lazarus? In the Bible, he was the brother of Mary and Martha who died of leprosy but was brought back to life by Jesus.
The Old Masters in art always portrayed him as a white, corpse like figure.
I couldn’t bear to saddle a child with such negative vibes.
Just my opinion, though!

That’s what I have been cautioning too. I honestly think a zombie leper is really not a good association - even if he was “miraculous.” Have you actually discussed the association with DH op?
