Hi! We've finally settled on naming our daughter Marjorie, and now we're just looking for middle names. It doesn't need to have familial significance since Marjorie does already, so any suggestions you've got would be lovely!

This is our list so far:

Marjorie Eloise
Marjorie Aurelia
Marjorie Renée
Marjorie Juliette

FYI - she's a triplet (2 girls 1 boy) and the other girl was to be Cecilia Renée, but we're willing to switch it to something else if Renée works better for Marjorie! So something like Marjorie Renée, Cecilia Eloise IYSWIM. TIA!

Anything but Marjorie.. sorry OP but it’s awful

wonkhamstrong · 04/06/2024 14:54

I think Marjorie is lovely! Juliette is my favourite. Congratulations!

I was afraid people would think this I just think it's so cute!! Might have to rethink but it's so pretty to me, and I like Jorie and Rory as nicknames. Wouldn't call her Marge or Margy, but even Maggie is fine I think, but I like Rory the best.

Marjorie is lovely
I think Marjorie Aurelia (unless your surname starts with a D)

Marjorie Jasmine?

AstonMartha · 04/06/2024 15:00

I love the name Marjorie.

Majorie Faye
Majorie Wren
Majorie Rose

Honestly I wish I made a poll in this thread, I think I'm going to make another one with all of these plus the other names I'm thinking. So sorry for making so many threads, that next one will be my last!

Marjorie is a lovely name! I think Marjorie Renee and Cecelia Juliette.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 04/06/2024 15:31

Marjorie Joy

I personally think Marjorie sounds a lot like Margarine! If you say Marjorie Renee quickly, it sounds even more like it.

Have you decided on a name for your baby boy?

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 04/06/2024 15:36

My late granny was Marjorie, known as Marge, with middle name Evelyn. I'm biased but I love the name!

DirtyDuchess · 04/06/2024 15:41

My wonderful grandmother was Majorie Maisie. My mother Marjorie Anne

Edited

Jasper Harrison :) I do see that with Marjorie Renée, might have to count that out!

You could use Aurora nicknamed to Rory as a possible alternative. Marjorie and Marge are quite harsh and sound starkly unfeminine next to a beautiful name like Cecilia.

If you just love Marjorie, however, the following might be nice:
Marjorie Claire
Marjorie Elise
Marjorie Eliza
Marjorie Rhode (or Rose)
Marjorie Wren
Marjorie May

Marjorie and Marge are so old fashioned to my ear, I think they're horrible (although Marjorie is a much prettier spelling than Margery). Cecilia on the other hand is gorgeous! I'd be so upset if i was Marge and my sister was Cecilia. Jasper is really cool too. Personally I think Eloise or Aurelia go much better with the other two names than Marge - which her name is bound to be shortened to at school.

PurpleReindeer2 · 04/06/2024 15:57

Marjorie. Sorry OP but I won't like it as a first name. Can't you use it as a middle name instead?

FoxEaredBat · 04/06/2024 15:59

Absolutely stick with Marjorie! It's a wonderful name, and your shortenings are excellent! I think Marjorie Renee is lovely, and i don't get margarine vibes from it :) if you'd gone for Marjorie Jean, then perhaps ;)

Marjorie Renee
Cecilia Juliette (CJ is a cute option)

Congrats on the growing family!

SatinHeart · 04/06/2024 16:00

I think a one-syllable middle name e.g. Rose is probably the way to go as Marjorie is a longer first name, otherwise it all becomes a bit of a mouthful.

This. Cecilia and Eloise are absolutely beautiful, elegant timeless classics. Marjorie/Marge is so 50s and clunky in comparison

longdistanceclaraclara · 04/06/2024 16:04

She will be Marge Simpson.

loropianalover · 04/06/2024 16:06

Cecilia Juliette (CJ is a cute option)

I would be so unhappy if my sister was Cecelia / CeCe / CJ and I was Marge!!! Especially considering they’re twins.

If you do go with Marjorie OP I’d really push the Rory or JoJo of it all.

Cecilia is classic but Marjorie is old fashioned, there’s a big difference between the two names.

Enko · 04/06/2024 16:08

I saw your title and I thought Rose. Marjorie Rose. Or Marjorie Rosa

Grumpynan · 04/06/2024 16:10

How about rose, Marjorie Rose is very pretty

tbh I’m not a fan of Marjorie my MIL was shorten to marj which she hated,

I called my daughter Margaret after my mum and she’s always known as Maggie which really suits her. Margaret Elizabeth May, some said its old fashioned I think traditional

jjpolly90 · 04/06/2024 16:23

My partner wanted to call our dd that after his grandma but I didn't like it, it's wayyyyy too old fashioned i think, so I looked into it and Marjorie is derived from Margaret which means Pearl so we settled on Pearl and I think it's lovely!
