Thoughts on the name Sadie?

Hi,
What are people's thoughts on the name Sadie?

A bit too nicknamey for me but nice enough and becoming more widely used. Think it's not far out of the top 100 currently.

I've taught two but both are older now (about 12 and 9).

I don't like it, but can't explain why - sorry not helpful!

The fact that it has the words "Sad" and "die* in it puts me off. Such a negative name.

I think the same but I think it’s because the only Sadie I’ve known (in my year at secondary school) was very much like this.

I’m just not a fan. I’ve never warmed to it on any of the kids who are named it either, like you usually end up doing.

It would never occur to me to made the "sad" and "die" connection - I actually think it is a really cheerful, positive sounding name, perhaps because it reminds me a bit of the word sunny?

FFS. That's just ridiculous, on one of these threads somebody said they didn't like Violet as it sounded like vile. I assume you don't live in Wales? I quite like Sadie.

It's a nice name, there have been a couple in my DC's Primary School. In the many years I have known Sadie I havent ever noticed until now that it ends in 'die'!
