How many Ezra’s do you know?

Interested to know how popular Ezra is, and seen as the ONS data seems like it’s never going to be updated I thought I’d turn to MN!

I know it was top 100 in the latest data (2021) but interested to know if it’s continued climbing since then. How many Ezras do you know, how old and if you’re happy to say - what area in the UK are you from?

I think a better question is "do you (OP) like the name Ezra"? If you do, then name your child Ezra. Otherwise don't.

Who gives a shit about what anyone else thinks or how many there are?

BanditsBiscuits · 10/05/2024 18:44

One. Aged 3/4

Edited

I do like the name, but equally don’t want to give my child a name and there be five people in the class with the same name 😩 I know that can’t necessarily be helped, but just want to have an idea of the popularity before settling on something.

I think Old Testament names for boys are super popular: Ezra, Jude, Noah and so on.

I don’t think it’s as simple as if you like a name or not either. Some names can be really dating like the Clares and Rachels and Helens of the 80s. There’s nothing wrong with them but I can see why people want to avoid them.

eatsleepworkchildcare · 10/05/2024 18:58

Live in east London. DS is an Ezra. We have met one so far in a baby class. There was another in nursery and another is a nursery sibling. My BIL has an adult brother called Ezra too.

Great name, I wouldn't change a thing

Bbq1 · 10/05/2024 19:01

One. Family are non religious
It's definitely becoming more popular.

modgepodge · 10/05/2024 19:01

I know a 3 year old and a newborn called Ezra. It’s not unusual any more but not as popular as say Noah or Oliver.

My daughter has 60 kids in her year group, and off the top of my head I can think of 6 names where there are 2 of the child. Not many of them are what I’d think of as popular/common names - one is Olivia which is very popular, but another is Robin which I don’t think is common at all!! My own daughters name is not particularly common yet there’s 2 in her class. You can’t always predict these things!
