How many Ezra’s do you know?

Interested to know how popular Ezra is, and seen as the ONS data seems like it’s never going to be updated I thought I’d turn to MN!

I know it was top 100 in the latest data (2021) but interested to know if it’s continued climbing since then. How many Ezras do you know, how old and if you’re happy to say - what area in the UK are you from?

Meant to say - In east london

2 one is 3 and the other a few months old

Not come across it at all in my kids peer groups or in any of the kids I teach.

One primary school age and one secondary age.

One - an adult.

1 adult - Jewish New Yorker
1 teenager - Jewish Londoner
3 toddlers/babies - 1 2yo American living in London, 1 9mo living in North West from non-religious family, 1 newborn living in North West from non-religious family

I know 2, a baby and one who’s about 3 and I know of one more who’s probably about 20ish.
I’ve had children in my class who share a name with another and it’s never ever caused a problem. I never understand the angst the idea of sharing a name causes!
I’m not saying this is causing you angst OP but I’ve seen it here so many times!

One - my cat it's a lovely name for a child as well though.

But they're at school for such a short time. A few years of a whole life.

Personally, I would be more interested in the history. It is a Hebrew name. Do you have any Hebrew heritage? It appears to be in the top ten names recently, so if you didn't want a popular name, maybe not. It's gender neutral, but more boys are named Ezra than girls, does that make a difference?

Let's face it, at least it isn't Dave, or Liam 👍

Only 1, he'd be 17 now. It didn't suit him.

I know it really wouldn’t be the end of the world and probably silly even thinking about it - it’s not something in my control!

I just remember my best friend in school being one of four charlottes in our class and her hating it, so it’s always something I’ve thought about.

Trouble is you might use a name not in top 100 and happens another parent did and in your child’s class.
I notice that names is often grass is always greener - not liking being one four Charlottes but equally child not liking their unusual name where they never find a cup or pencil etc just in the shop or easily online.

Two - one aged 13, not Jewish, the other 90, Jewish.

I love the name Ezra.

No help to you but I have known two. One worked with my dad but died quite a few years ago. The other would now be in his late 20s.

4, one 8 year old, two toddlers and an elderly man

One and he's in primary school.

Two, one nursery aged and one that is 6 years old.

Two - both primary school age.

I don’t know any. Just makes me think of the dodgy teacher from pretty little liars, which dates me terribly 😂
