Originally going to be called Jim after my granddad, but we've found out we're having a girl. Would this work?

Too funny! Jamie is a perfectly nice girls name and linked to Jim, if you’re serious?!

StaunchMomma · 29/04/2024 14:28

I'm so sorry OP but I am HOWLING! 😂

Agree that Jemima/Jamilla/Jamie are a million percent better and a squillion percent less amusing.

Katiesaidthat · 29/04/2024 14:32

I was watching Suits and Harvey calls another lawyer Jimbo, like making fun of him, this is what it reminded me of. I didn´t even now Jimberly was a name, I thought t was Kimberly with a typo.

Moveoverdarlin · 29/04/2024 12:12

Kimberly will always remind me of the Victoria Wood sketch.

Me too. And for that reason I wouldn't saddle a child with that name either.

LikeTalkingToLassie · 29/04/2024 14:36

'@Katiesaidthat , of course it's a name. Have you not heard of Jimberly-Clark and Jimberly Jardashian? There are literally billions of Jimberleys at DC's school.

SeriaMau · 29/04/2024 14:39

Jimjiminy?

Antibetty · 29/04/2024 14:42

Jamesina is a legitimate Scottish girls' name
I prefer Jemima

User1979289 · 29/04/2024 14:42

It's this kind of post that results in Billy Bragg calling MN a hate site isn't it?

Lidlisthebusiness · 29/04/2024 14:44

Had to spit my coffee in the sink before I choked on it, and then continued to wheeze laugh my way through this thread. Brilliant work everyone.

MILTOBE · 29/04/2024 14:47

This has to be the funniest name ever suggested on here and that's saying something.

EverybodyLTB · 29/04/2024 14:49

I’ll never get the moment back of reading someone suggest Jimbalonz. This thread has had me crying with laughter. Life’s all downhill from here.

Scrunshine · 29/04/2024 14:49

It sounds like ‘Jingly’. Very Christmassy

LikeTalkingToLassie · 29/04/2024 14:50

Wasn't the funniest name thread the 'What's Hugo short for?' with Jizabella a close second?

HectorPlasm · 29/04/2024 14:53

What about Jim-Jimery-Jim-Jimery-Jim-Jim-Jeroo?

Megifer · 29/04/2024 14:54

Omg the Hugo thread was cracking.

I just remember Hugoesthere and Hugopotamus 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

cheapskatemum · 29/04/2024 14:59

Haven't RTWT, but can honestly say this is the worst name suggestions I've seen on MN. As I'm sure others have pointed out, the name Jaime is a female form of James/Jim.

louderthan · 29/04/2024 15:16

I have no children and no desire for any but threads like this are the reason that 'baby names' remains one of my favourite topics...

My mum was a cleaner and cleaned for a lady called Jamesina. Never heard that name before or since, but its slightly more acceptable than Jimberley 😅
I think Jaime would be better for a girl

Lots of women with names like Jamesina, Thomasina, Williamina are known as Ina.
That generation of names are probably all 70 plus.

Nigella is from the flower/plant

No, it's from her father, Nigel.
Her sisters similar monstrosities for names - Horatia and the slightly better Thomasina.

shearwater2 · 29/04/2024 15:38

Jamie or Jemima would work well.

Jimberley could be a family nickname though.

LikeTalkingToLassie · 29/04/2024 15:43

@mathanxiety , that is specific to one person called Nigella. The name itself is from the plant.
Her sisters' names are nice IMO.

mathanxiety · 29/04/2024 15:44

How about Shay or Shae?
They're short for Seamus, Irish for James.

Amy1117 · 29/04/2024 15:50

No 😂😂😂
