i'm 21 and expecting my first daughter, here are some of the names we have in mind. please let me know your opinions on all and if you have any suggestions

Gracie
Leighton
Adelaide (Addie)
Eloise
Cressida
Annabelle
Mabel

i'm finding it hard to choose just one, do any of these names stand out to you?

Definitely, definitely not Leighton. And Grace, not Gracie. You can always call her Gracie yourselves.

None of them are really to my taste, but all of them (except Leighton) are fine. I think Eloise and Cressida are my favourites.

Leighton is a boy's name. Confused
Eloise and Mabel are the nicest ones.

Report
hazelnutlatte · 17/04/2024 13:27

I like them all apart from Leighton, which sounds more like a boy name (though I don't think I'd like it for a boy either tbh)
Eloise is my favorite out of those names.

Eloise is lovely.

I love Eloise, it's really pretty and I went to school with an Eloise who showed me that she could write her name with a calculator and as a child I was so impressed and thought she had the best name.
I like Adelaide too but to me it reminds me more of the city than a name. I like Addie and have heard it short for Adeline too.

I like Eloise, Mabel, Cressida and Adelaide in that order

Eloise and Adelaide I love! Would certainly avoid Leighton.

Agree with pp not Leighton. The rest are all nice. Personally I’d choose Annabel rather than Annabelle. And Cressida is very posh!

Love Eloise and Adelaide - Adelaide more unusual than Eloise.

Adelaide just makes me think of the Australian city.

Eloise is very pretty but gaining popularity (if you're keen for her name to stand out, baby not a good thing).

Cressida feels really posh to me!

Names you may also like :

Camilla
Elodie
Georgia

Oh and Annabelle is lovely, plus loads of nickname options

Eloise is the standout, just beautiful.

Annabel is pretty, (Annabelle too frilly and like the doll in the horror film). Grace is nice (but Gracie as the official name seems too childish).

Quite like Cressida and it's unusual.

Please not Leighton, it's a place, and a boy's name at a pinch.

I like them all except Leighton and would choose Grace and Gracie as nn. I like Cressida but not sure on how it could be shortened as I'm not keen on Cress/Cressie. Annabelle and Mabel are my favourites.

With Leighton I guess you’re thinking of Leighton Meester? Though maybe not if you’re young! But apart from the example from someone who is American, it’s not really a girl’s name so I would scrap.

From the list, Eloise, Mabel or Annabelle.

Gracie. Very popular, has had it's day I think

Leighton sorry but this is the worst

Adelaide (Addie) ok

Eloise love....my favourite of your selection

Cressida definitely not

Annabelle. Very sweet. My second favourite

Mabel. Dislike. It's quite trendy at the moment but it's too old lady frumpy for my tastes

Gracie - love this, my favourite but I'd choose Grace.
Leighton - no
Adelaide (Addie) - ok
Eloise - ok
Cressida - no
Annabelle - like
Mabel - like

All nice apart from Leighton (don't like it for a girl) Mabel is my favourite though.

I like Gracie from your list but I'd probably use Grace and Gracie as a nn as she'd probably outgrow the (ie)

Gracie - nice but it's said as Griceh where I am
Leighton - said as Layton and is a surname. I'd think she was a boy
Adelaide (Addie) - not keen and don't like Addie
Eloise - gets misspelt as Elouise which is not nice. Will be Ellie.
Cressida - nice but will be Cress
Annabelle - a bit frilly
Mabel - not keen
