Nickname for a girl named Sunday

Hi all,

I’m pregnant with my second daughter, due in a few weeks weeks and we’ve decided to name her Sunday. I’d love some nickname ideas that aren’t “Sunny”.

Middle name will be Victoria just as an FYI.

My friends daughter is called April and she got teased all through primary and secondary for such a bog standard fairly common name.
And she was an April born child, which she got repeatedly asked all the time.

Your kid will probably be asked if she was born on a Sunday? If not then why the name?

It would be ideal if she was born on a Sunday but obviously the odds aren’t really with me on that one, and I figure that nobody really talks about what day they are born on!

As a rule, for people who aren't named after days of the week, then no. But obviously it will be a daily occurrence for people who are names after days of the week.
Surely you can see that. Try introducing yourself as a day of the week whenever you are asked for your name over the next couple of months....... it will soon get old.

They're all the same number of syllables or longer, though.

Plus Dominga is great if you grow up in a Spanish-speaking country, but it's highly unfortunate in an English-speaking context.

There's nothing at all wrong with Saturday as a name, as long as you don't mind people inevitable calling you Turd for short...

I like it but it will be shortened to Sunny.

I think Sunday is a really nice name. Name threads often seem to have people slating anything remotely unconventional.

If you're not keen on Sunny, you could think about Ci-ci (playing on the "ess" sound). Or Daisy as PP have suggested. Sunny seems like the most likely nick name though.

I think nicknames evolve and in our family they rarely bear any relation to the actual name. My eldest was always a little old lady, so her nickname is “Madge” I also call her “Dolly” because she has always had blonde ringlets and gigantic blue eyes. (Was an old lady magnet when she was little!) My twins’ nicknames evolved differently… Girl twin started as “Floppy Socks” because she was just over 5lbs when born and her feet didn’t even fill half of her little newborn baby socks. They were just flapping in the breeze before they inevitably fell off. She was a feisty little thing and her nickname ver quickly turned into “Fox in Socks” or “Foxy Sox”. She still answers to those, plus “Fox” and “Foxy”. Oh, and “Soxy” on the odd occasion. And “Sosie” because her twin brother couldn’t say “Sophie” when he was little. As for himself, he started as “Liam Lambchop”. That quickly turned into “Chopper” and “Chops”. He is also “Yeeum” because “Sosie” couldn’t say Liam.

I know a Tuesday whose nickname is Chewie. (Not at all helped that she is a very tall redhead.) *She is the youngest of seven and the only girl, too.

"An actor decided to name her child this name" is not really the killer argument in favor of a name that you think it is.

A cute baby called Sunday is one thing, but a 35 year old woman called Sunday is ridiculous.

I have a close friend called Sunday. It's never shortened, it doesn't sound ridiculous, she is now well over 35, and she is a highly respected professional who has reached the top of her profession. Her name hasn't held her back one bit, nor do fully grown adults make fun of it, shorten it, or feel it's ridiculous. It's just her name. And no one else's business.

Op i’m sorry, i think genuinely think she has the risk of being bullied at school with that name. I genuinely don’t think the ‘roast’ suggestions are unrealistic in terms of the nicknames she’d be given.

I would use Sunday. It's beautiful.

Celebrities have called their children Apple, Moon Unit, Kal-el, Bronx...

School children will repeat anything associated with a name , they will repeat everything that has been said here . Kids are not stupid .

Names like Tuesday, June, August, Quinn, Autumn, Summer etc are all derived from names of seasons/dates/numbers etc.
I don't see that as a reason for them attracting any more bullying than names derived from places- Haylee, Clifton, Skye.. or from Bible stories -Noah, Jonah, Mary .. or from colours - Bianca, Scarlett, Indigo .. or plants - Rose, Aster, Daisy.. or Greek myths etc.
All names come from some where, historically.

Despite the responses to this post, I am sure lots of children have day names after the success of the Wednesday Addams series. At least Sunday is easy to spell 😅.
