Baby boy names that go well with surname Thornton

My sister's baby is due in April and they're really struggling to think of baby boy names that are unique or rare that go with the surname Thornton.

They don't know the gender but have pretty much picked out a girls name already but they're really struggling with boys names as the ones they like, Tristan, Aidan, Falon, all end in a similar sound to Thornton and they don't like the thought or feeling of too many 'un' sounds.

I suggested Hugo, Theo, Leo, Xander, they don't like them and they're not rare or unique enough for them... Any suggestions are welcome.

Single syllable names will go best:

Ned
Bram
Abe
Henk
Seb

Loads of the “older” names like James, John, Bill / Will , Fred are one syllable too.

Elliot
Felix

Thank you, they're soooo picky but I get it, they want to make sure they get it right for their first born if it is a boy.

Some of the names you've suggested they didn't like (Hugo, Leo I've already suggested) and they were hoping for one that would be modern, her hubbys name is Andrew so that's a no go, grandad will be Richard and I don't think they're modern, rare, unique enough. I don't think they know themselves what they mean by rare/unique 😂

I actually really like what is now classed as "older" names but they're looking for something newer, more modern. I even suggested Wolf, everything is a no so far for them.

I've suggested maybe even hyphenating the ones they like Tristan-Lee, etc, they're not keen.

Billy Bob 😃

Sorry, not helpful but it jumped into my mind when I saw the surname 'Thornton'.

Rafe?

BreakfastAtMimis · 27/02/2024 09:12

Thor. Or even Thunder. Unique and definitely go with the surname!

AwkwardPaws27 · 27/02/2024 09:13

My first thought was Elijah.

😆This has sprung to my mind a few times too. I said I'd post on here because she's struggling so much that she's working herself up about it. She's a big believer that the way a firstname ends shouldn't be the same as how the surname ends but she isn't keen on any boy names that end differently 🙄
