Baby boy names that go well with surname Thornton

My sister's baby is due in April and they're really struggling to think of baby boy names that are unique or rare that go with the surname Thornton.

They don't know the gender but have pretty much picked out a girls name already but they're really struggling with boys names as the ones they like, Tristan, Aidan, Falon, all end in a similar sound to Thornton and they don't like the thought or feeling of too many 'un' sounds.

I suggested Hugo, Theo, Leo, Xander, they don't like them and they're not rare or unique enough for them... Any suggestions are welcome.

The Falon I know is a girl.

My GP is Dr Robert Thornton...and he's incredibly lush to look at. Not the point OP but it's the only name I could think of when I saw the surname!

Wilder is a good suggestion upthread.

Wilder Thornton is a name to conjour with.

Did you see the thread about names people have only ever 'met' once? @RoseWinter

Haha quite apart from being too many Hugo's, Hugo Thornton is far too close to the nice but dim Hugo Horton from Vicar of Dibley...

I think William Thornton sounds lovely
Would end up being called will is assume.

Edward also good- (Ted) Thornton.

These names aren't used so much any more so sound somewhat more unusual than the Hugos and Neds which are definitely more prevalent from what I've experienced. I have two children one 21 and one 6 and this is definitely an ongoing trend, certainly in London.

Personally i always think it's important to consider whether you might have a child who decides to become something like a high court judge or surgeon or an artist. One career might find having a 'proper' name beneficial whilst the other might prefer something more out there. For this reason our children have a less common but classic first name and a more unusual middle name giving the m the option to choose which they would use. They are both called by completely unrelated nicknames which have Evolved over time, by everyone though
