How would you pronounce Ivi?

Ivy or Evie? Or differently?

As in Ivy

Whatever it is it’s awful!

ItsaPeppaPink · 17/02/2024 18:28

Ivy

FayCarew · 17/02/2024 18:28

What language? Italian would be Eevy.

Other languages: 'How do you say your name please?'

MississippiAF · 17/02/2024 18:28

Eww.

Sonora25 · 17/02/2024 18:29

It’s not a name though
just go with Ivy or Evie

Geneticsbunny · 17/02/2024 18:30

Ivv ey to rhyme with ibbey

Bigearringsbigsmile · 17/02/2024 18:30

I would think the letters were to be spelt out individually- like it's an acronym or something

Please tell me you not considering it for an actual child?

PiggieWig · 17/02/2024 18:31

Ivy, but I’d spell it with a y. Ivy’s a lovely name and in my handwriting Ivi would look really odd.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 17/02/2024 18:31

Ivy - and I would think that the parent spelt it wrong to be ' trendy ' / unusual / different.

Ihatemondays1962 · 17/02/2024 18:33

I'd prounounce it Ivy but would be wondering why it had such an odd spelling.

CaustonCID · 17/02/2024 18:33

Ivvy like in the middle sound of Olivia

LittleMissSleepyUK · 17/02/2024 18:33

I read it as I-v-i

Dearover · 17/02/2024 18:33

Iv-ee to rhyme with sieve-ee. The poor child.

Wafflethewonderdoggy · 17/02/2024 18:34

I was expecting it to be a type of IVF

WilloTheWispy · 17/02/2024 18:34

Neither.
A bit like this ^
Ivv-eee

If you want Ivy, spell it Ivy
If you want Evie, spell it Evie

mildlydispeptic · 17/02/2024 18:34

If you have to ask, you shouldn't be considering inflicting it on your child.

suntannedsnowballsinhell · 17/02/2024 18:34

It looks like a form of contraception or fertility treatment

IVI

IUI

IUD

IVF

Justyouwaitandseeagain · 17/02/2024 18:34

Yeah my first instinct was 'Ivvie' or 'Eye-Vi' but then realised it was probably supposed to be 'Ivy'

NoCloudsAllowed · 17/02/2024 18:36

I'd pronounce it eye-vee-eye and would get the lye-lye-lye chorus from Simon and Garfunkel's the boxer in my head

Onelife2024 · 17/02/2024 18:36

Ivy

Onlyvisiting · 17/02/2024 18:37

From the spelling,
ivvi. Like livvy but without an L and a shorter 'i' at the end. Not name I recognise

theduchessofspork · 17/02/2024 18:38

Ivy

Don’t that though..

Normandy144 · 17/02/2024 18:39

I'd pronounce it like Ivy. But my preference is to spell it the traditional way as I agree with previous poster who suggests written down it looks like a fertility process/contraception device.

TitInATrance · 17/02/2024 18:40

Ivvi.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 17/02/2024 18:40

Wafflethewonderdoggy · 17/02/2024 18:34

That was how I read it too
