Chymme (pronounced Chime).

The child didn't know the inspiration or origin of her name and it doesn't come up on Google as a name at all. It might be the only truly unique name I've ever come across in real life.

What a fascinating thread!

I remember reading many years ago in Take A Break about a couple who allegedly called their daughter KVIIIlyn - i.e. Kaitlyn, with the 'ait' in Roman numerals for 'eight'. As to whether or not it was true, I really could not tell you!

I'm wondering if little Fennel's parents are playing the very long game and trying to make sure that she doesn't ever change her surname if she marries - at least anybody whose surname doesn't start with 'L'. How could you possibly be called Fennel and also have the 'so near yet so far' initials F.E.N.N.E.J.?!

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 20/01/2024 00:44

the comment about Fennel made me laugh!

Zinzan

If you google it it comes up with a NZ rugby player, but I don't think the parents have any connections with NZ or rugby so I have no idea where it came from!

There’s a Zinzan Street in Reading, named after the Italian family that owned the land it was built on.

I met a child called Zsa-Zsa. Pronounced "jar jar". Also a child called Kidd which I found a little odd. Also a girl called Precious and a boy called Marvelus. Another girl called Bluebell. (I'm a teacher!)

allierosex · 20/01/2024 01:10

Oh also I know twins called Pelican and Puffin

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 20/01/2024 01:11

This one is truly odd. Why not call them Rat and Squirrel while you’re at it.

When my sister was a nurse a couple said they'd chosen a really unusual name for their baby son - Gooee.
Turned out it was spelled Guy but they'd no idea of ths correct pronunciation

They weren’t just using the French pronunciation were they? Which is kind of “Giyee”?

beitasmalltown · 20/01/2024 02:28

I know a 2 year old Chummy!

She's chubby and very sweet Grin not sure if her mum knows it's connection

I also know a Bunny Beau. Maybe it's a Northen thing
