There was a lawyer at my firm (US branch so I never met her) called Cupcake Brown. That's my favourite name ever I think. Also I think of her when people on the baby name boards say that Missy or Ella-Mae or whoever won't be able to be judges. Cupcake was not a judge but she was a very well paid lawyer at a big firm.

This Cupcake Brown? I read her book many years ago.

Cupcake Brown | Penguin Random House

Cupcake Brown was born in the heart of the San Diego ghetto. After graduating from law school in 2001, she went on to practice at Bingham McCutchen, one of the nation’s largest law firms, and became...

Work in a secondary school and we've had:
Vox
Pen
Beau
Jewel

Full names not abbreviated....probably more unusual rather than random really.

I knew of a lady called Jewel, about 60 years ago and she was late middle aged then.

Also Beau Bridges is a hollywood actor, son of Lloyd Bridges and brother of Jeff Bridges, so it's not a new name. Also may come from Beau Geste (googled : Beau geste is a phrase borrowed from French; the literal translation is "beautiful gesture." Beau Geste is also the title of a 1924 novel by Percival Christopher Wren, featuring three English brothers who join the French Foreign Legion to repair their family honor)

Callipygion · 19/01/2024 17:40

Poorlymumma · 19/01/2024 17:41

I once had a nurse called immaculate, after the "immaculate conception." I get that it's a cultural name and a religious name, but I wouldn't like to be named after a virgin birth as a woman.

canigohomeyet · 19/01/2024 17:42

I baby sat a family once and the two boys were called Box and Scooter.

gabbyaggy · 19/01/2024 17:42

Beckett

OldManSign · 19/01/2024 17:43

Free-leigh
Leaf
Eljay (phonetic spelling of the initial LJ)
I’m sure there’s loads more but those are the ones that come to mind

gabbyaggy · 19/01/2024 17:44

Beckett has beautiful origins, meaning bee hive, little brook or bee cottage.

SerafinasGoose · 19/01/2024 17:46

Topaz Magenta. Thought that was a little 'out there', until I read some of these!

It's interesting that the names 'Friday' and 'October' have both appeared on this thread: Friday October having been the name of Fletcher Christian's first son. So those are old.

I can't hear the name 'Precious' without mentally replaying 'it rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again!'

I nearly fell over laughing at Tiny Kox and DKNY. Because I'm very childish.

mycatismyworld · 19/01/2024 17:46

Loveday is a cornish name,I know of two

WaverleyOwl · 19/01/2024 17:47

When he was at uni, my brother dated a girl called Petal. I think she was from somewhere in Africa.

I thought it was a beautiful name 🌺

SerafinasGoose · 19/01/2024 17:47

There's a builder called 'Quickfall' out there somewhere.

Better still is the firm of lawyers called 'Wright Hassall & Co!'

I wonder if South is because of North

South must be 18 or 19 now so I think born before North.

My childhood friends auntie was named "Concepta" & a relation of a good friend just recently named her daughter that too, although they're shortening it to "Consi"... spot the Catholics!

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 19/01/2024 17:49

At uni I knew someone called Dickon Hares. I also met a toddler named Baby Jesus nn BJ and one called Sargent years ago in America.
