Jet and Venetia, children I taught in riding classes, Suffolk.

Venetia sounds like a Jilly Cooper character so it makes sense she was learning to ride.

Purple

Utterknowitall · 19/01/2024 14:18

I've also met a Fortunate.

Chanhedforthis · 19/01/2024 14:20

Then why did you claim it was someone you'd met?

It is someone I've met.

I was saying I didn't know that it was also an urban myth, and I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone. I was apologising for that.

I know a Morris Morris
(In my head I always follow his name with "so good they named him twice")

Our former local councillor was called Michael Michael. He now runs a barber's shop called, imaginatively, 'Michael'. Post to the shop must be addressed to 'Michael Michael, Michael' 😆

DiscoDragon · 19/01/2024 14:22

I used to work with a lady called Demelza, gorgeous name only everybody called her Dimmy for short. In a previous job I was scrolling through the company e-mail directory one day and found a Burt Reynolds and a Dusty Miller.

This is what I don't understand about this name.

Neveah really isn't heaven spelled backwards! It's haeven spelled backwards. Bloody doubly stupid.

That's cos the correct spelling is Nevaeh.

There were 83 boys called that in 2021. Ignacio is a very common boys name in Spain.

My BIL is called Ignacio (he's Spanish)

Anothenamechange · 19/01/2024 14:26

@Girlking this is an old English name and is reasonably common in the west country.

And means "hill". For example, Bryn Terfel, famous classical singer. It is a pretty standard sort of Welsh name.

Ah yes, I was aware it was a Welsh name. In my head it was more old fashioned and it was a bit odd to meet a baby Bryn. The parents also weren't Welsh but that's none of my business. Haha. The name suited him though!

Newchapterbeckons · 19/01/2024 14:26

There are some seriously beautiful names on here.

Blessing is my contribution.

6ft1 and the most athletic and powerful young girl I have ever met. Fiercely intelligent and so much charisma. She would quieten the room simply by walking in. She WILL be running the world one day!

Groovee · 19/01/2024 14:27

I spent ages at work looking for Ellie-Marie's snack name that was actually LA-Marie.

It's mainly spellings I've come across over out there names.

@ruralwanderer Ignatius is an old Irish name. It's great. I went out with a guy called Ignatius when I was a teenager

It's not an Irish name, it's Greek.

Newchapterbeckons · 19/01/2024 14:28

Venetia is gorgeous!

TallulahBetty · 19/01/2024 14:29

Jack-Daniel
Lovely (she was anything but)
