Hi everyone, I am expecting a baby girl and have narrowed my name list down to 2 names which I love equally! Please help me decide!

Winslow nn Winnie
Cecelia nn Cece

At this point I’m wishing it was twins just so I can use both! How do I decide?!

Cecelia is beautiful

to me Winslow is a male name I’ve never heard it as a female then shortened to Winnie …. Off I go to google

tortiecat · 06/01/2024 18:56

Cecelia.

I've never heard of Winslow?!

ThunderSnacks · 06/01/2024 18:56

I love Winnie but as a nn for Winona or Winifred. Winslowe makes me think of a suburban commuter town.

Cecelia is also nice!

MSWood1 · 06/01/2024 18:58

Cecelia

mathanxiety · 06/01/2024 19:00

Winslow is too close to Onslow from Keeping Up Appearances, imo.

Winnie is lovely, though, as PP suggests, as a nickname for Winifred or the rather lovely Winona.

I like Cecelia a lot, and Cece is very sweet.

toastofthetown · 06/01/2024 19:00

Cecelia. It feels more classic to Winslow to me. Winnie would be cute as a diminutive for Winter (though MN generally don't like Winter).

Falkenburg · 06/01/2024 19:01

Winslow is in Buckinghamshire and also one in Arizona. As a boys name is passable. As a girls name it's ruddy awful.

Cecelia is a pretty name.

Username123343 · 06/01/2024 19:01

Winnie is gorgeous 😍

DrLucyVanPelt · 06/01/2024 19:01

Definitely Cecelia

Divebar2021 · 06/01/2024 19:02

Cecelia all day long

GenXisthebest · 06/01/2024 19:03

Cecelia - love it (although I would spell it Cecilia).

TheYearOfSmallThings · 06/01/2024 19:04

Cecelia

Because...wtf? Winslow?!

WhereCanWeBe · 06/01/2024 19:06

Cecelia! Not keen on Winslow, sorry.

RosaSkyes · 06/01/2024 19:06

I actually like both but definitely Cecelia of the two

NachosAndCheese · 06/01/2024 19:09

Cecelia. Because no girl wants to be called Winslow.

AdaColeman · 06/01/2024 19:10

Cecelia, a beautiful name!

Winslow is too Terence Rattigan for my taste.

Workawayxx · 06/01/2024 19:10

Cecelia is lovely although I prefer the Cecilia spelling. Not sure about Winslow, I prefer Winifred or Wilhelmina with Winnie as shortened version.

Smartiepants79 · 06/01/2024 19:11

Winnie, good. Winslow???? Awful, it’s not a name I’d give to anyone not even a pet.
Cecelia is nice. Prefer Cecily myself.

Onelife2024 · 06/01/2024 19:14

I like Cecelia but prefer Celia

Winnie is a nice nn but not keen on Winslow, I prefer Winona

tokesqueen · 06/01/2024 19:15

Winslow. lol.

Aglassaday · 06/01/2024 19:15

Congrats🥰
I’ve always loved the nickname Winnie and I like it to be longer for Winslet or Winter x

Riverlee · 06/01/2024 19:16

@mathanxiety

”Winslow is too close to Onslow from Keeping Up Appearances, imo.”

My first thought also! So I vote Cecelia.

MenorcaMarguerite · 06/01/2024 19:17

Cece short for Cecilia is lovely. Don't spell it Cecelia she will spend her life correcting people. (There was a thread about it a year ago: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/baby_names/4452509-Cecilia)

I really don't like Winslow, sorry. (nor really Winnie - whinny like a horse?) But if you really want the nickname Winnie, how about the first name Winsome?

Cecilia? | Mumsnet

Yay or nay? Is it vintage? Cool? Old ladies' name? Is it becoming more popular? I think it's a lovely classic, not too bothered about meaning. I wond...

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 06/01/2024 19:18

Muthaofcats · 06/01/2024 19:19
