I'm quite a big fan of this but wanted to hear thoughts - I really like Alexa but don't want her to be getting compared to an amazon device for the rest of her life and I think this is just as nice.

🤣🤣🤣

So so far we've had cough mixture, weight loss drug, and antihistamine.

It's actually a probiotic

And a brand of watches

I'm of the school of thought that anything can be a name if it sounds good.

Surely that doesn’t really hold true in reality though, and the meaning, or even just associations, of the word has to be taken into consideration?! As someone has already mentioned, on this logic you could end up thinking Chlamydia is ok, or Rubella….

FreebieWallopFridge · 17/11/2023 18:52

What would it get shortened to? Ellie? Lixa? Lixxie??! Or perhaps a nice, simple Lick….

My 1st thought was 'Elixir of Life'

Me too

Eliza would be much nicer, imho.

MaloneMeadow · 17/11/2023 19:07

Did you make it up? Sounds like some sort of medicine, not a name. I would assume it’s a typo for Eliza, which is a lovely alternative

I agree with you on Alexa though - I’ve always loved it but wouldn’t burden a child with it due to the Amazon connotations

She spotted it on the side of her Probiotics.

Electra
Alyssa
Eliza
Lexi (Alexandra)
Roxie (Roxanne/a)
Trixie/ Trix (Beatrix)
Alexis

Ohnoooooooo · 17/11/2023 19:18

Leeza?

OldTinHat · 17/11/2023 19:45

As a huge fan of Alexa who literally runs my life for me, perhaps not? It's a bit too similar and you don't want devices shouting at you every time you call your DC.

Alicia is lovely as a PP suggested.

Moveoverdarlin · 17/11/2023 19:53

It’s too close to the word Elixir. And as others have pointed out, it sounds like you’re saying ‘He licks her’.

You need to name a child an actual name, not just words you like.

What about Alexis?

merrymelodies · 17/11/2023 20:02

Zero 'likes', OP. Back to the drawing board.

mfms · 17/11/2023 20:07

I don't like it, sounds like Alexa if it was bought from wish

gerispringer · 17/11/2023 20:09

Awful idea. Sorry it’s a no from me. How about Alessandra. Or if it’s got to have an X - Xanthe.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 17/11/2023 20:14

"Ask your pharmacist about Elixa"

Hard no here 😬

IfOnlyThingsWereSoEasy · 17/11/2023 20:16

NO.

How about
Alexia
Alexandra
Alicia

Dabralor · 17/11/2023 20:20

Sounds like something you'd pick up on prescription to sort out your thrush.

Without being too outing, I am Alexa and no-one really ever teases me about Amazon. They did for a minute I suppose but it quickly just went away. I'd go for Alexa, I love my name.

RadRad · 17/11/2023 20:25

I don’t like it. How about Elsie, an old fashioned coming back in trend name.

Thisusernamenotavailable · 17/11/2023 20:33

I read the title and immediately thought “antidepressant”.

Eliska is very close however, and a great name.

It's fine if you are older than the Amazon thing. No one expects your parents to have been prophets. But naming a child the same name as an existing digital assistant is naff. Might as well name them 'OK-Google".

eatdrinkandbemerry · 17/11/2023 20:36

Don't we take a dose of that for a tickling cough

Its5656 · 17/11/2023 21:12

How about Alexis, like the girl In Schitts Creek.

Meem321 · 17/11/2023 21:13

Catherine is nice but makes me think of the royals. Catheter is better.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 17/11/2023 21:14

It doesn't sound good. Poor kid!

OhGoOnThenIfYouInsist · 17/11/2023 23:27

I like Mirena
As in the IUD

kitsuneghost · 17/11/2023 23:30

Sounds like a drunk pronunciation of Alexa
