I'm quite a big fan of this but wanted to hear thoughts - I really like Alexa but don't want her to be getting compared to an amazon device for the rest of her life and I think this is just as nice.

No sorry. It sounds like medication!

Hereforthebunfights · 17/11/2023 17:20

Alexa's will all respond to it though.

PainPeas · 17/11/2023 17:20

How does an Alchemist please his wife? Elixa.

geoger · 17/11/2023 17:21

My first thought was Alexa

My second thought was elixir

She’d be the butt of soooo many jokes don’t do it OP.

sadsack78 · 17/11/2023 17:23

If you have an Amazon Alexa, it'll turn on every time you say it!

there are lots of similar sounding names for girls that other posters have mentioned that will give the same vibe and sound without sounding like a medicine/ product.

Gnomegnomegnome · 17/11/2023 17:23

In Cornwall we would assume that you were saying ‘he licks her’.

Don’t do it.

🤣🤣🤣

So so far we've had cough mixture, weight loss drug, and antihistamine.

And there was me thinking it sounded like a laxative.

Hey OP just call her Laxa.

CurlewKate · 17/11/2023 17:26

Eliza?

Iheartpizza · 17/11/2023 17:27

I'm sure I've heard this before, isn't it a verruca cream, or something similar?

DawnieOwl · 17/11/2023 17:27

sadsack78 · 17/11/2023 17:25

You're right I'll definitely go with Obaxa or Xuxxa instead!

I'm of the school of thought that anything can be a name if it sounds good.

Well why not just call her Hammer or Bucket or Flyspray.

They’re perfectly good serviceable words.

Dustybarn · 17/11/2023 17:49

Ah yes, Elixa and her twin sister Panacea. What could go wrong?

SylvieLaufeydottir · 17/11/2023 17:52

It just looks like you don't know how to spell "elixir". Or that you're a new weight-loss injection. Hard nope.

Lots of exotic diseases and body parts have attractice names but you wouldn't want your baby girl called Chlamydia, would you?

If you want something different go back in time such as the Saxon Richildis or Celtic such as Bronagh or Meredid. Or foreign such as Amrit, (Punjabi for flower) or Zaharva (Hebrew for gold). I'd recommed checking on the meaning - just in case. All teenagers hate their parents. You don't want to give them a reason.

Edited for sausage fingers

Gowlett · 17/11/2023 17:58

Folk will just hear Alexa every time you say it.

munchmagic · 17/11/2023 17:59

Brings to mind the Candida thread on here!

Oh dear. Poor child.
Cholera or Aphasia both sound nice, what about one of them?
