I'm quite a big fan of this but wanted to hear thoughts - I really like Alexa but don't want her to be getting compared to an amazon device for the rest of her life and I think this is just as nice.

OP posts:

Lexi would be better in my opinion.

MariaVT65 · 17/11/2023 18:07

As others have said Op, i just think of some kind of medicine/potion.

Sashamans4 · 17/11/2023 18:09

One of my daughters is called Alexia , our Alexa goes off every time I call her for something 🤣

FofB · 17/11/2023 18:10

My 1st thought was 'Elixir of Life'

Jewelspun · 17/11/2023 18:14

Elixa is HORRIFIC.

I'm of the school of thought that anything can be a name if it sounds good.

I think that school needs an ofsted inspection urgently.

TheFairyCaravan · 17/11/2023 18:18

I immediately thought of Elixir. It’s an awful name, don’t do it to her.

Yawn. Try harder. It’s not even amusing.

PersephonePomegranate23 · 17/11/2023 18:21

It sounds like:

  1. a misspelling of elixir
  2. a drug
  3. a made-up name from a kid's fantasy novel.
LBFseBrom · 17/11/2023 18:21

It does not look or sound good.

Not if it’s already got a specific use and the child/teen/adult will get 🤨 looks when saying their name.

Chlamydia sounds lovely for a name.

This!!! 😂

MsFogi · 17/11/2023 18:23

Just call her ‘Alexa’ it is a lovely name and Amazon Alexas will no doubt be superseded by something else (possibly with a girl’s name too) in a few years.

Lilibert456 · 17/11/2023 18:24

Why would you want to saddle your child with such an awful.name. It does sound like a cough medicine.

flagsrus · 17/11/2023 18:26

Sounds like Alexa said in a South African accent to me

THisbackwithavengeance · 17/11/2023 18:27

@DawnieOwl "You're right I'll definitely go with Obaxa or Xuxxa instead!@

OP behave.

LylaLee · 17/11/2023 18:30

It makes you sound uneducated, as if you've never heard the word elixir.

SirChenjins · 17/11/2023 18:30

He licks her

Just don’t.

I'm of the school of thought that anything can be a name if it sounds good.

It doesn't sound good though. It sounds daft.

I'm of the school of thought that anything can be a name if it sounds good.

But it doesn’t sound good.

It sounds like cough medicine. Or a laxative.

I went to school with a girl called Candida, poor thing.

RubySunset82 · 17/11/2023 18:37

fml this has to go into classics.

Elixa…

PainPeas · 17/11/2023 17:20

How does an Alchemist please his wife? Elixa.

Brilliant!

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 17/11/2023 18:41

Another vote for 'it's a cough mixture'.
Lexi is close and an actual name

VerityUnreasonble · 17/11/2023 18:46

flagsrus · 17/11/2023 18:26

Yes! That's what I hear too.

Also I just tested it on Alexa and she responded, DH came in and questioned who was licking who so basically other than a medication we've covered the major themes from the thread.

jays · 17/11/2023 18:46

Genuine think it sounds like a vaccine or a weight loss drug as others have said. Feel really bad saying that. Sorry X
