Nothing wrong with that OP. There are so many beautiful names not everyone will like. I agree its best to look at the possibility of horrible nicknames or things previously mentioned. I'm sure people will say you could say this about any name, agreed but some names stand out more and leave a child open to ridicule 😢

Now doubting all names and considering going back to the drawing board 😂

I really wouldn't worry about other people's opinions too much. There is always the potential for teasing/ nicknames with any name or any other characteristic.
Chose the name you both like.

Choose!

Leonora Cecily
Emeline Theodora

are my favourites. Beautiful. I love shortened versions that start with with the first bit of the name if that makes sense so would shorten to Leo/emmie. I also read somewhere that first/second names flow best if they have one more or less syllable which seems to make sense to my ear anyway!

Accept this opinion but can't agree. At our local playgroup there was a lovely wee girl called Melly Brooke. At school they knick named her Smelly & she would arrive home crying. Her mum ended up calling her Brooke so it would stop & it did. It's the obvious ines like this that I feel should be considered when picking a name 🤷‍♀️

That's a fair point but I don't think it applies to any of the OP's names.

I love Cecily and Aurora, also like Emeline, but prefer Emmeline spelling
I like Celia, but not fan of other names
Cecily Aurora gets my vote, or Aurora Emmeline or Cecily Emmeline

Theodora reminds me of Wizadora

gemma19846 · 29/10/2023 21:38

Celia makes me want to sing the song "cecilla". I dont particularly like any of them but everyone has their own taste

Waferbiscuit · 29/10/2023 23:00

I love Cecily but Celia, unfortunately, sounds like celiac and once you hear that, can't not hear it.

Watchthedoormat · 29/10/2023 23:08

Emmeline Aurora

user1492757084 · 30/10/2023 01:45

My faves, in order, inspired from your list ..
Celia Leonor
Cecily Adele
Cecily Leonora
Celia Tess
Celia Aurora

Imtootiredtothinkofausername · 30/10/2023 01:53

Aurora always feels like too many r's somehow.
Also be wary of using a vowel as a middle name due to initials, especially for a girl.
E.g Jennifer Izabelle Jones is fine but if she marries a Mr Zebedee or something then it's less fine 😳

Cecily is pretty.

Is Emeline "lynn" or "line"?
Leonora is nice too, less kind of frilly pretty than Cecily but a bit spunky which I quite like.

ConsuelaHammock · 30/10/2023 04:05

Theodora is my favourite.

PabloandGustheGreySquirrels · 30/10/2023 04:18

There is a little girl in my DD's school called Liliah which is a name I love. My daughter is called Mackenzie

PabloandGustheGreySquirrels · 30/10/2023 04:21

I like Emmeline but that will be rife for misspelling! If I heard that name, I would assume it was spelt EmmaLynne/Emma-Lynne or Emmaline

floatingnoodle · 30/10/2023 08:24

Haven’t you heard of Emmeline Pankhurst @PabloandGustheGreySquirrels ? I think that will be how most people have heard of the name so would automatically spell it that way?

scottishGirl · 30/10/2023 16:07

Either Adeline Leonora or Adeline Theodora

Springforward1 · 30/10/2023 16:34

What's wrong with simple beautiful names for example:
Catherine
Louise
Emma
Caitlin
Emily
Anne
Jane
kate
Grace
Evelyn
Sophia

Of course it's all about personal taste 👍😁

What why?! It’s a really very famous name, or should be to all women!!!
why on earth would you hear it and think it’s spelt emmalynne!!!!!! 🤦🏽‍♀️

Thewildthingsarewithme · 30/10/2023 19:46

Thank you so much for all the help! We are down to either Cecily or Emmeline/Emeline with either Leonora or Aurora as middle names but are now also considering, thanks to some suggestions
Astrid
Clara
Aurelia
Claudia
Florence
Bonnie
