Theodora Cecily is my favourite.

Thewildthingsarewithme · 27/10/2023 18:36

Thanks so much for all the feedback I think we have narrowed it down a bit but still a bit stuck and trying to unsee cess pit for Cecily 😩

Cecily Aurora. Cecily has been my favourite name for some time.

If you'd like another suggestion for a middle name, Laetitia would be my choice.

MerryChristmasToYou · 27/10/2023 18:48

Emmeline - pankhurst
Aurora - borealis
Adeline - adelie penguin/Aveline off Bread (I'm a model)
Theodora - The odora(ta). The pungent
Leonora - Lenor, Leonie
Celia - lips

Most of the names are long. Are you planning on using a short version?
Leonie is nice

MooseBreath · 27/10/2023 18:55

Theodora Cecily is my favourite, with Aurora Cecily as a close second.

Cecily is a great middle name!

theduchessofspork · 27/10/2023 19:03

Cecily

Emeline - lots of similar names about, and the unusual spelling will be a PITA for her
Cecily - lovely, as is Cecile
Aurora - gone a bit Disney
Adeline - I think Adela or even Adelaide are nicer versions.. there are a lot of Adas about though
Theodora - done to death
Leonora - I love it but there are so many boy Leos (and Theos) around it might feel a bit overdone
Celia - ok but Cecilia much prettier

theduchessofspork · 27/10/2023 19:05

Also maybe..

Verity
Cassia
Claudia
Caroline
Alicia
Allegra
Dorothea

Aurora Emmeline

Thewildthingsarewithme · 27/10/2023 19:16

I think we’ve narrowed it down to Cecily/Celia/Cecile/Cecilia
Leonora
Emmeline/Emeline - I don’t mind the French spelling, I lived there for years, my eldest speaks the language, we spend a lot of time there and I think the name is unusual enough that most people will spell it wrong anyway!
we like the nicknames Leo/Nora/Rory/ emmie/mila/Millie/CeCe
thanks so much for the helpful and not so helpful criticism it is really narrowing them down!

Deliberately so, @Thewildthingsarewithme , because it would be a bit awful if you named your child something only to find that other kids poked fun at the name (e.g. decided to call Orla Oral or Lana Anal)

Cecile is pretty.

Thewildthingsarewithme · 27/10/2023 20:04

@MerryChristmasToYou arguably you could say that of any name though if you were determined to! I think other than something terribly obvious you just have to go with it or you’d have nothing left to name them, if children are going to be cruel they will be cruel regardless of a name and you are better helping your children to be kind and confident individuals who can bat off the comments, and also I think safely assume most kids don’t know what cess pits are 😉

They do where I come from. Smile
I can think of a few nicknames based on names that are awful but some were at workplaces not playgrounds.

I agree about the assertiveness and confidence.
If you are in France or have french family, Aurora will sound quite different.

mathanxiety · 27/10/2023 20:13

Leonora Emmeline
Theodora Emmeline
Cecily Theodora
Celia Theodora
Emmeline Aurora

shoopshoopdedoo · 27/10/2023 20:26

I like Cecilia, Celia and Cecily best. All of the others are a bit too frilly for my taste, though Emmeline and Theodora are nice. Aurora is by far my least favourite.

Cecily Emmeline
Celia Theodora

DesertSnow · 27/10/2023 20:31

I love Adeline. Maybe Adeline Theodora

Daisybuttercup12345 · 27/10/2023 20:34

Aurora Celia is nice x

Thewildthingsarewithme · 27/10/2023 20:59

@theduchessofspork I love Claudia!

We have similar taste. One of my DDs has one of the names on your list.

Aurora is v pretty but too Disney princess for me.
I prefer the Emmeline spelling.

Also like these which are in the same vein:
Adelaide
Cecilia
Eleanora
Elena
Juliet(te)
Marianne
Genevieve
Paloma

User6761 · 27/10/2023 21:14

I really like Emeline, Adeline and Cecille.
Cecily is ok. Not keen on Aurora (find it a mouthful to say - you might also like Aurelia?), Theodora and Leonora are too long for my tastes (do love Norah though). Celia feels dated - much prefer Cecille.

Overall, I'd go for Emeline Cecille!

TotalOverhaul · 27/10/2023 21:15

i love Theodora, Leonora and Emmeline from that list

RuthW · 27/10/2023 21:15

Leonora Emiline is my choice.

Riverlee · 27/10/2023 21:18

Emeline - prefer Emmeline spelling, lovely name
Cecily. - pretty, also Cecelia
Aurora - not keen
Adeline - not keen
Theodora - pretty
Leonora - not keen
Celia - not keen

Thewildthingsarewithme · 27/10/2023 21:19

@rainingsnoring these are lovely, I particularly like Eleanora thank you

If I were an unnamed baby, I'd hate to get landed with the name Leonora. Ugh, so frumpy.

I'd also loathe Emmeline, and all the nicknames. CeCe is so arch. Nora is just awful.

I'd be ok with Cecilia. There are much better names out there so just choosing within the narrow parameters.
