DP suggested it but I think it's awful! Look dreadful lol and would condemn our poor DD to a lifetime of having to say "it's same as Elsie but spelt.... ". Argh!

OP posts:

My name is an ordinary name spelt slighly differently, it's a total PITA. I can remember as a very small child correcting people and that spelling is appalling, so not even easy to correct for a little kid.

Truthlikeness · 25/07/2023 13:26

I write fantasy fiction and I wouldn't even use that. Too many pointless letters.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 25/07/2023 13:27

Child abuse. FGS please don’t inflict this on your poor child.

Random789 · 25/07/2023 13:27

Your DP is bonkers. It is literally theworst suggestion I have ever seen on a baby name thread. Grin

Might just as well have Elsie spelled as lqhdac7(*^%, or with the squiggle that Prince used for a name.

billycat321 · 25/07/2023 13:27

Silly

Random789 · 25/07/2023 13:29

Mind you, I've just learned that Musk is now spelling Twitter as X.

To be fair, I think the OP writes fantasy fiction too, of the nominative type.

NewUserName2023 · 25/07/2023 13:29

Just no, unless you want to set your DD up for a life time of bullying and having to spell it out EVERY time someone asks her name 😢

booktokbear · 25/07/2023 13:29

😱

loobylou10 · 25/07/2023 13:30

Don't be silly

Aye but it's pronounced Elonz

fdgdfgdfgdfg · 25/07/2023 13:33

Surely you can add a few more letters to that, maybe a silent p at the start?

Purplecatshopaholic · 25/07/2023 13:34

CointreauVersial · 25/07/2023 13:21

Did DP drop something on his keyboard when he suggested that spelling?

More likely dropped something on his head…!

paulhollywoodshairgel · 25/07/2023 13:34

Please no!!

LadyGeorginaSmythe · 25/07/2023 13:36

FFS!
As a registrar if you came register with me, I would be saying "what? And how are you pronouncing it? And why are you spelling it that way?"
I mean, I can't refuse to do it, but seriously....why would you?!

I have a less common spelling of a fairly common name (nowadays, wasn't popular 40 years ago!) and it's annoying having to spell it.

oakleaffy · 25/07/2023 13:36

Bloody ridiculous!

Crumpleton · 25/07/2023 13:38

Not one of your DH's best suggestions.

Exactly.

If OP's husband wants a silly spelling , at least make it work

''Lc''

{El Cee}

murasaki · 25/07/2023 13:39

Dp has a cousin called Alivia. I try not to judge. I fail.

Threemyopicmice · 25/07/2023 13:41

😦

Stayeduptoolateagain · 25/07/2023 13:42

What.The. Actual....

Turfwars · 25/07/2023 13:42

It's naming a kid, not countdown.

Random789 · 25/07/2023 13:45

Also, part of it looks a bit like your DH had just decided to shove in random letters in a flawed bid to make the name look complex in the way that some English people experience certain Irish names as complex.
Therefore, possibly quite offensive

MasterBeth · 25/07/2023 13:45

LC?

caringcarer · 25/07/2023 13:45

Rediculous. Is he dyslexic?
