Please no chav.

No Blaze,Courtney-May, Minky-Rae etc.

My daughter already does not suit her name it is far to gentle for her even dh agrees (I am amazed by this) but I am flummoxed as to what we could call her instead as we had Nell, Annie, Constance and Dolly on our lists and neither of them fit either.

Any suggestions would be very welcomed, I really want to get the ball rolling sooner rather than later I think we have 5 weeks before we can't change it officially.

Clara or Cleo

WendyWeber · 19/02/2008 13:38

Oh Filly - how wonderful - she pronounced the Ineffable Name and flew away into the air.

The times I've wished I could do that! (The flying away part that is, I pronounce Ineffable Names all the time )

Fillyjonk · 19/02/2008 13:39

well this one IS feisty

I have to say, iirc xanthe means "yellow" though google thinks it means beautiful maiden

Heathcliffscathy · 19/02/2008 13:39

oooo i LOVE lexie.

WendyWeber · 19/02/2008 13:40

I bet her mother wished she had MN to ask where she'd gone wrong!

VictorianSqualor · 19/02/2008 13:40

Felicity, the book I'm reading at the moment the woman is called Felicity but they call her Felix.
Also like Eliza (that's the authors name).

Fillyjonk · 19/02/2008 13:40

at wendy

I translated passages from that stuff as an u/grad and it was always SO funny to have these very ancient, very po-faced professors in at least their 90s correcting us solemly over the correct swear word...

yes by about 12 months, dd was actually saying her name, iirc.

that would be my only worry

(though I do love lilith and wish I could have persuaded dp to use it...)

princessmel · 19/02/2008 14:02

Agree that Lilith doesn't seem that feisty. Also agree that if you do cahnge the name it should be a slight change. My 2 at 11 months definatly knew their names.

I do know a very strong willed lily btw

I like lexie as it is similar -ish to lily.

princessmel · 19/02/2008 14:04

lexia

AdamAnt · 19/02/2008 14:10

I have to say that having been educated on the origins, I think Lilith is a magnificent name.

DiscoDizzy · 19/02/2008 14:12

What about Rosie?

Thats what we called our feisty firey DD. She's got mad curly hair and a mad personality to go with it. You could always use Lily as the middle name.

fym · 19/02/2008 14:14

I like xanthe - not frilly at all....

nobodysfool · 19/02/2008 14:26

What about Flick(Felicity)?

going by your input lots of ladies on MN seem to like my name-Petra.

lottiejenkins · 19/02/2008 14:39

How about Dulcie? I love that name!!

TMMJ - nah I wouldn't worry about changing her name. We called DD almost exclusively by her ridiculous pet name for the first 12-18 months, and she suffered no confusion And sod what other people think. It's really none of their business.

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 19/02/2008 14:54

mmj i changed my dd name at 2

she was alexandra and we now call her a derivative - essentially a different name though - it was fine

belgo · 19/02/2008 16:20

I knew a ninety year old Dulcie, she was very very feisty. I think it's a great name.

Greensleeves · 19/02/2008 16:25

lilith stormed off after Adam wouldn't let her go on top

it makes me want a girl JUST so I can call her Lilith

lottiejenkins · 19/02/2008 16:51

@ belgo am glad someone else likes dulcie too!!!
