Please no chav.

No Blaze,Courtney-May, Minky-Rae etc.

My daughter already does not suit her name it is far to gentle for her even dh agrees (I am amazed by this) but I am flummoxed as to what we could call her instead as we had Nell, Annie, Constance and Dolly on our lists and neither of them fit either.

Any suggestions would be very welcomed, I really want to get the ball rolling sooner rather than later I think we have 5 weeks before we can't change it officially.

I agree with bink, in choosing a versatile name. One that fits for a feisty baby girl may not be right when she becomes a high court judge! My eldest is Rosemary (and on occasion Rosie, or Rose). I just like the idea of a name that can change as a child grows and changes.
And must not forget to add that your girl is edible!
My suggestions
Alexandra
Helena
Elizabeth
Isabella
Charlotte
Phoebe
Catherine

What about Adair? I would love to be an Adair and am fiesty red-head

StrangeTown · 20/02/2008 11:39

Or what about Marnie?

poshwellies · 20/02/2008 11:45

Mines fiesty,always has been,she's named Scarlett-it suits!

helenelisabeth · 20/02/2008 11:56

Goodness your child is so beautiful!

I think she would really suit Tiger Lily. You could just start calling her TIger as a nickname but also still use Lily as her "formal" name and then over time people will just get used to TIger.

actually I'd agree that lily does suit feisty girls.

but I love sylvie/a, she looks like a sylvia

alibubbles · 20/02/2008 12:24

Ava, Romy or Romilly, Bibi, Esme, Hermione, Mabel, Orla, Pandora, Thea. I have a Harriet and would have loved a Henrietta, but got a Henry instead

Lordashley · 20/02/2008 12:37

Our feisty DD1 is called Klara. We had Klara and Amelie lined up for a girl, but she was just too feisty for Amelie.

DD2 due in April, and if she is as feisty as her sister, I think we are going for Astrid

allgonebellyup · 20/02/2008 12:49

my sister's baby is Sylvie

PotPourri · 20/02/2008 13:32

She is gorgeous. And I think Tiger Lily is such a clever suggestion. It means you are keeping her original name, so less confusion, but over time it will move more to Tigerlily as the proper name.

Must admit I think you are really brave considering changing her name. I wouldn't have the guts!!

justnotsure · 20/02/2008 13:55

Grannyslippers, forgive me if I am wrong but I think it was you who suggested Tiger first so a big thanks to you, in fact all of you for your great names, better than a dull old book any day.

I thought the extended family would be horrified (esp my sister- she loves it!)but they surprisingly agree that she is not really a Lil now. We will not be changing her name officially just in case she mellows (our pet name will be Tiger or Tiggy which I loved from earlier)Lily would perhaps be more suited if she ends up being a barrister or newsreader!

Now I fear we will have to buy lots of feisty gerbils to use up those other wonderful suggestions.

MoreSpamThanGlam · 20/02/2008 18:13

My Lola is tres feisty...glint in her eye.

I also like Eliza, Marnie and Sidney.

tigerlily1980 · 20/02/2008 18:33

Great choice! And your little girl is gorgeous btw!!

AdamAnt · 20/02/2008 19:24

Excellent choice! It really suits her

grannyslippers · 20/02/2008 19:43

Have just logged on - cheers !

I thought of it because I have a niece who had a year long craze about tigers and insisted she should always be called Tiger or Tiggy by everyone, instead of her own lovely poetic Celtic name.

What a beautiful little girl too, can see why she might be feisty.

justnotsure · 20/02/2008 19:46

Oh thanks for those marvellous comments. I was rather nervous about posting the link, thinking you would suggest something really soft and disagree or call her a moose- glad that there are so many who really do think it suits her.

I have really enjoyed calling her by her "name" today, quite proud I would say.

WendyWeber · 20/02/2008 19:56

She is utterly gorgeous, jns

I love that slightly disapproving pursed mouth - she is plainly nearly-1-going-on-70!

nooka · 20/02/2008 19:58

I have a feisty Lily! But she is a Lilian. Your dd looks lovely, many of the names given here could suit her (I like Iris, Elizabeth and other formal sorts of names especially as she looks quite intense!). I think nicknames are a good way to go when experimenting. I do think middle names are good to have though - we call dd her full name, including surname when she is very feisty .

3andnomore · 20/02/2008 20:24

erm...am really confused now....your little one is gorgeous, but how old is she?
Because, I thought you could only wait for 6 weeks until you nmae your child, and I didn't realise you could change your mind after that?

So, and what is she called right now, and have you decided on what to change it too?

MoreSpamThanGlam · 20/02/2008 21:05

I love Tiger - fabulous!!!!
