My daughter isn't called this because I'm just not the kind of person who calls their daughter Angelica, but Angelica.

What kind of person is that?

KohlaParasaurus · 10/03/2023 15:52

Lilias. I couldn't use it because it wouldn't have worked with my children's surname.

Nannyamc · 10/03/2023 15:52

Fern

"What kind of person is that?"

I honestly don't know, but not me because I didn't do it!

Such a shame that the name you think is the most beautiful…. Is one you felt that you couldn’t call your daughter because of the type of person you are. Of course you could have!

Elodie

Had a Brazilian friend in the 80s with this name and I've loved it ever since. Neither of my daughters are called Elodie as partner didn't like it 🙄

Hankthehonk · 10/03/2023 16:01

I have always loved Lorelai but my partner vetoed it! Fair enough.
We named our daughter a name we both love, no regrets

My daughter’s name

and nothing would stop me using the name I thought was the most beautiful for my daughter. Nothing!

Well, preferences can change over time. My 23 year old daughter's name is not what I'd choose now.

Elodie just sounds like L.O.D. to me. Really not great!

DevonSunsets · 10/03/2023 16:08

Liridona - I've met two in my lifetime and they were wonderful, joyful women but also a force of nature in relation to their respective passions.

Nugg · 10/03/2023 16:09

@halfsiesonapotnoodle never heard of LOD? Had a google and still no wiser...

HamHand · 10/03/2023 16:10

Another just here to say Elodie! Dd has a little friend with this name and she’s the kindest, sweetest child.

But what prevented you?

DS would have been Sadhbh had he been a girl.

aSpanielintheworks · 10/03/2023 16:11

Orlaith
Not a scrap of Irish in us though I've just always loved the name.

Think she means the letters L-O-D, which is does, and I kind of agree!

Say the letters out loud...

🍀 Clover

But Mumsnet hates it usually 😬😂

Fancysauce · 10/03/2023 16:14

Aurelia. I haven't got girls but this would have been a top contender.

Heckythump1 · 10/03/2023 16:15

I absolutely adore Jessie, but neither of my girls are Jessie because my husbands sister is Jessica and there's another Jessica in the family already!

Bipbopbee · 10/03/2023 16:15

Meadow

YouSoundLovely · 10/03/2023 16:16

Sophie/Sophia is pretty much perfect as a name IMO. Our daughter isn't called that, partly because dh (and tbh I too) felt they were too popular, partly because we had an inspiration and called her another wonderful (to us) name.

I think Lucinda, Linnea and Miranda are beautiful too.

Nugg · 10/03/2023 16:16

Ah ok I thought LOD must be an acronym for something vile 😂 and I was far too above to guess what.

Ah there's worse things. I guess I say it more sing-songy so it doesn't really sound like it to me. Anyway won't be using it - my child bearing days are long gone!

Nugg · 10/03/2023 16:17

Above was naive!? Above!!??

VeryQuaintIrene · 10/03/2023 16:18

Ooh, someone mentioned my real name! I've always loved Katharine

quietnightmare · 10/03/2023 16:21
