My daughter isn't called this because I'm just not the kind of person who calls their daughter Angelica, but Angelica.

Absolutely with you on this. It's is beautiful, but also wouldn't use it.

The friend of a work colleague. Hence I never saw it written but it was pronounced Shebanna a very soft and gentle name.

Likely Shabana and is lovely.

My favourites are

Isobel
Astrid
Imogen (Immy)
Ophelia
Tabitha
Clementine (Clemmy)
Florence (Florri)

I love more traditional, even Biblical names (though not over-religious), so my favourites are:

Laura
Lydia
Isabella (mum's name and she hated it with a passion?! I love it!)
Emily/Emma
Eve
Rachel
Sadie
Gracie
Ruth

Sorry but there's some bloody awful names on this thread!😂

Maedan · 10/03/2023 21:51

Esme for me, if I'd had a daughter I'd have used this.

Excluding my daughters’ names, it would be Anastasia. I think it’s a beautiful name and as a child I loved the story of the princess Anastasia (not the dead family part) and I imagine a beautiful girl with that name. I know a lot of people associate it with Fifty shades of grey or the ugly sisters from Cinderella though…..

I didn’t choose it because it doesn’t fit with our surname and they would probably be known as Anna (which is also beautiful) but not what I wanted. And dh wasn’t keen

I love Anastasia too.

But the shortening is Anna, and I've never met one who wasn't a complete... (Insert own expletive) Grin

I love Greek names and names from literature. So many gorgeous names to choose from
Persephone
Penelope
Ariadne
Hermione
Ophelia
Miranda
Alice
Clara
Arwen

We went for Matilda in the end as DH vetoed all my other choices and now says he loves Persephone

I really love all of the names on your list, @sugarapplelane. My tastes have changed so much at different times that it's very difficult to pinpoint one or two favourites, but Lyra is currently up there, and I'm fond of Lucy as well.

My daughters have first names I hadn't heard of before I met my husband but we chose them together. None have been mentioned on this thread but I don't think they're hugely popular so maybe that's not a surprise. Five of their middle names have been mentioned so I hope it's not just that I have terrible taste.

Ah ok I thought LOD must be an acronym for something vile 😂 and I was far too above to guess what.

Ah there's worse things. I guess I say it more sing-songy so it doesn't really sound like it to me. Anyway won't be using it - my child bearing days are long gone!

@Nugg as in Melody?
I think if it is said like Melody, but without the M, that it sounds beautiful. I didn't say it like L. O. D. when I first read it either.

Aozora13 · 10/03/2023 22:23

Ooh all 3 of my DDs have been listed. Slightly baffled that own extremely tedious name is getting lots of love too. Names I love but couldn’t use are Ariadne, Willow, Zephyr and Marianne. Oh and Ophelia.
