The short version of Anastasia is Nastya - doesn’t work well in English 😂
Another Russian name I like is Darya - but again not great though the a is long

I just couldn't name my DD after a yeast infection.

All four names I chose for my daughters are on here yippee!

Oh I used to love this name and was thinking of using it years ago if I had a girl (I didn’t). It would have been shortened to Katie or Kate though.

I don’t like Eloise, I only like Alicia if it’s not pronounced Aleesha (yuck) but I absolutely love Colette. I have boys and struggled with their names but I could have had enough names I love to name about ten girls!

To the posters asking: why choose a name for your daughter other than your favourite? My surname is a noun and many of the first names I adored were also nouns, so the name ended up sounding like a description.

Don't get me wrong I love my daughter's name but I struck a lot of beautiful names off the list because I'm a teacher and they were too synonymous with children I'd taught.

I love the names Elodie and Elowen but DH vetoed them because he hears them as the initials L.O.D and L.O.N.

I always loved the name Martha but never used it because my best friend chose it for her daughter. Since the Handmaid's Tale has been televised I now can't hear the name without associating it with the Marthas, so just because a name was my favourite at one point, it doesn't mean it is now.

Alexa, for instance, is a beautiful name but I can't imagine many parents have opted for that name in the last few years...
