Yes, I did point out that Paris was a man's name in mythology, but got ignored. I don't think anyone believes us

CoteDAzur · 09/02/2008 19:00

I wonder what "Kiki" thinks of her name.

sorry, didn't see this earlier. and apologies for hijack ilts.
yes, he'll soon be in next one up so that's no prob. the buckle sits against the side of the seat, which is bad isn't it?
though, dp has just informed me that he wants a new car anyway so maybe we;'ll just have to get one that fits the car seat lol

3andnomore · 09/02/2008 22:49

Paris, or possibly Parys, was a character (male) in Home and Away, lol!

CoteDAzur · 10/02/2008 11:57

"Parys", sure, why not?
I fully expect that to be spelled in an 'inventive' way in the near future by those of us wishing to bestow a 'unique' name on our offspring

Nbg · 10/02/2008 12:04

I've got a thing for pretty girl names atm.

I like Lillith (or is it Lilith?)
Rosalie
Araminta Yes I know! But shortened to minty, love it.
Meredith

My mum used to nurse an Indian lady called Sukey and she was a gorgeous gorgeous lady.

Listen to Hatrick, she is queen of great names IMO.

fingerwoman · 10/02/2008 15:33

I Know someone with a lovely little girl called Lilith, and her baby is Alethea (Thea for short)

kizzib · 10/02/2008 17:14

Names are cute for a baby but when that baby is 25 and going for a job interview, it's not so cute anymore.

I wouldn't give a job to a kitty, kiki, paris or danni-ella, no matter how well qualified for the job they were.

Sorry.

lottiejenkins · 10/02/2008 17:22

I like the name Dulcie for a girl!!

fingerwoman · 10/02/2008 20:33

but by the time they're going for jobs all that generation will be used to those names!
then again,I wouldn't want to have an employer that was so narrow-minded and ignorant that they would base their opinion of me on my name. that's pretty crap quite frankly.

Kitty has long been a shortened version of Katherine etc, it isn't a new cutesy name at all.

iliketosleep · 11/02/2008 10:10

now he's on about bill for a boy

the surname will be williams

bill williams

erm nope!!! my poor child

DH is a headhunter. He says HR managers do eliminate candidates of "teenage popstar" names sight unseen. Apparently most are convinced that it gives an infallible insight into one's background. A bit about the obvious unfairness of this all (not the kid's fault his mum thought 'originality' would be an asset) but something to remember. Unless of course your kids will inherit such wealth that they can pick and choose employers

CoteDAzur · 11/02/2008 10:18

iliketosleep - Tell DH not to name the poor kid a nickname. If he wants to call the kid Bill, then he should name him William. 'William Williams'. Bet he won't go for that

EllbellTheBluestocking · 11/02/2008 10:30

Sorry, haven't got time to read whole thread, but you might like to mention to your dp that Paris is a boy's name. Surely he doesn't want to give his dd a boy's name....

Will google you some proof...

I'm simply being honest and I am not alone in my opinions. You have to consider the service being provided by your company and the image you want to give your clients/partners.
this page will back me up (hope link works)
