I can't get over denim. Crazyness.

I like really soft girly names. If we were having a girl we were going to call her Libby. But he's a boy.

Yes, Claire has become a rather common name in the UK.

I am slightly puzzled by the choice of the name Amelie for a kid in UK, though, where very close English alternatives exist like Amelia and Emily.

Was Amelie popular in UK before the film?

Among the expat community around here, the most popular names these days are: Maya/Maia and Sofia for girls.
Luca and Matteo for boys.

Expats stick to their cultural origins when choosing names for their kids. French increasingly choose English names for their kids, often with funny results in spelling & pronunciation - "Jenifer", for example. A French girl I know named her boy "Sloan", and pronounces it in 3 syllables "Suh-low-un".

As a 'very old Classical name', Paris was a man.

Is it's use as a girl's name any older than Paris Hilton?

If kids' names don't matter, why so many threads on them?

janitor- really? I always think why call your baby something long and then shorten it? Why don't you just call it what you're going to call it? lol. Had this with one of my work mates. She had same view as you. My cousin is called Eleanor but is and always has been Ellie from day one... surely her name is Ellie.

Cote- Really like Luca. That was our 2nd choice for a boy.

I LOVE name threads and I don't know why other people don't. It's lovely deciding what to call your baby and a HUGE decision as the baby's got to live with it forever. Surely as many opinions as possible are good!?

I think Paris is all right but not if your surname is something like, ooh, say "Hilton". I doubt anyone would have an issue with "Florence" so why not "Paris"? But if you don't like it then I'm sure you can agree on something else.

lol yes, neither of my ds's names were chosen so that they had more options when older. how bizarre.
why give your child a name you don't like and then shorten it, just in case they don';t like it and want more options later on.
a lot of people don't have other options for their name and don't seem to have a problem with it.

I love the name Kitty- I don't think its childish at all. Also, it can be short for Katherine OR Kathleen although I think it stands up well on its own.
