Elliot or Felix

I’m driving myself a bit mad - keep thinking I’ve chosen a name then going back to the drawing board. So I’m determined this is my final post and then I’ll go and live my life!

Here goes: Elliot or Felix (surname Marshall).

Worried about nicknames and keen to avoid anything mega posh, which in my mind would be like Tristan or Hugo (or maybe Sebastian).

Be kind :)

I like both! I prefer Elliot though.

virginqueen · 16/01/2023 12:30

They're both good, but I prefer Felix, which is a little bit different without being odd. Felix suggests a very musical or artistic child.

HoldingTheDoor · 16/01/2023 12:39

Felix is much nicer.

Twoinapod · 16/01/2023 12:45

Felix, but then I’ve never met a nice Elliot so it’s tainted for me, they all seem to become addicts

Gosh that’s random!

Definitely Felix. Not keen on Elliot.

Summerlark · 16/01/2023 12:49

I guess Felix would be okay for a cat. Sorry, I just have visions of a ginger tom.

Definitely Felix. Not keen on Elliot.

Thanks, I asked the same question re Elliot or Max a few weeks ago and the consensus was the opposite so it’s interesting!

Elliot is lovely. Felix makes me think of cat food.

Bananadramallamas · 16/01/2023 12:51

I love Elliot.

Reclining · 16/01/2023 12:52

I also like both but slightly prefer Elliot. Good balance of unusual (as in, you probably dont know 5) and familiar.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 16/01/2023 12:56

Felix is a much nicer name, and only has one spelling. Elliot always bothers me, I never know how many Ls and Ts is has, or if one spelling is for boys and one for girls.

autumn1610 · 16/01/2023 12:57

Much prefer Elliott

DuchessOfSausage · 16/01/2023 12:58

Elliott, but I note that you spelt it as Elliot. He'll get Eliot too.
Prefer Max to both names but the x runs into the m, and I hear MacSmarshall.
Felix is ok but DCat refuses to eat it.

Our electrician is called Felix Smile

Felix. I know an adult Felix, it is such a nice name. Elliot sounds very American to me.

I'm in the same boat driving myself crazy with baby names!! I too am having a boy I'm due in a few weeks, thinking and thinking names so I feel your pain!!
Boys names are pretty tricky for some reason!!
I personally prefer Felix, go with your gut hopefully you may be clearer when you see him x ( at least that's what I'm telling myself!!)
Good luck xx

Not keen on eithrr. Felix is a cats name.

Smilesarecontagious · 16/01/2023 13:12

Oh OK all I can say is go with your gut try not to feel pressured it's such a personal choice and don't really let silly comments from strangers put you off ie cat etc

When I had my girl I went and registered her not 100% then couldn't call her by that name

I ended going back to register office and changed her name I was so distraught luckily it was very straight forward and was given a new birth certificate ( this had to be done by the time she was six months)

Go with you heart and don't let others influence you

All the best xx

EmmaGrundyForPM · 16/01/2023 13:13

I've got a friend with two boys named Elliot and Felix (plus a daughter, Charlotte). Both lovely names.

YukoandHiro · 16/01/2023 13:17

Prefer E and F a better flow with the surname

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 16/01/2023 13:17

MUCH prefer Elliot

YukoandHiro · 16/01/2023 13:17

Sorry that's not helpful

Twizbe · 16/01/2023 13:19

Generally I'd say if you're down to 2 wait until baby is here. One might just fit him better.

That said I know 5 Felix born last year!
