Elliot or Felix

I’m driving myself a bit mad - keep thinking I’ve chosen a name then going back to the drawing board. So I’m determined this is my final post and then I’ll go and live my life!

Here goes: Elliot or Felix (surname Marshall).

Worried about nicknames and keen to avoid anything mega posh, which in my mind would be like Tristan or Hugo (or maybe Sebastian).

Be kind :)

I like Felix but imo it is quite a posh name x

I don't think you can go wrong with either. They are both good names. Which one does your husband prefer? Let him have the final say. If he has no preference tell him to choose one! I'd shift all the responsibility on to him now as your stuck 🤣

I like Elliot:-)

He prefers Elliot - I’m just struggling to get on board with anything I think

I prefer Elliott. I like Felix but I'm another who associates it with cat food.

Could you have Filex as a middle name? That way it is always there to be used if you decide. My son has a friend who goes by his middle name. I think very few people actually know it isn't his first name.
But I think if you go with Elliot as it's your husband's 1st choice he will grow in to it and you won't look back 😃 Since your husband actually has a preference and you don't, I think it would be unfair on him not to go with it to be honest x

Also considering Arthur but we have a Henry and think it’s all a bit Tudor! Plus doesn’t sound so gd with surname

You’re probably right - I’ll get there one day! I just wish I loved a name and I can find issues with anything, except Finn which we used as a middle name already

Could you find a longer version of Finn and use that?

I like both! Personally, I prefer either of your choices over Arthur, which always sounds "posh" to me, although I know is now very popular.

My husband has quite a posh voice too 😂

Felix every single time. Super sophisticated , unusual and classy, it will stand the test of time too. Elliot is a bit more mainstream, I know multiple Elliots but I don’t know a Felix.

baxterbee · 18/01/2023 15:31

@Wombat222

I have an Elliot :) he's 8 years old and doesn't get shortened to anything :)

Waspsnbees · 18/01/2023 15:31

elliot will be mis-spelt elliott/eliott/eliot. the only elliott's i know have double L double T but both forever get misspelt.
so i'd go elliot if misspelling doesn't bother you, felix if it does. you can't misspell felix ;)
