Just out of interest really - is there a specific boy or girl name you just can’t stand?

It's got to be Luckey-Buoy.

Otis. Just makes me think of the company that makes lifts for buildings. Whenever I hear it I assume the kid was conceived in a lift 😆

HolyStoned · 02/01/2023 00:24

George. It’s such a stodgy, pasty sort of name to me.

ThatshallotBaby · 02/01/2023 00:25

Yes I’m not fond of George.

Ah but Otis Redding!

Many years of music have taught me that he may be the only singer everyone likes.

Paige, Taylor, Tyler, Kayden, Jayden, Hayden, Scarlett. And anything ending in Mae. Sorry. I’m very aware that makes me a snooty cow. I just don’t like them.

Ayeaken · 02/01/2023 00:26

Charley/Charlie, Paul, Chloe, Mel, Jamie

ofwarren · 02/01/2023 00:27

The animal names ones, so Fox, Bear, Wren, Robin, Wolf, Falcon
Teddy too

nationallounger · 02/01/2023 00:28

I can't stand Esme as well. Also anything ending with Mae. I also don't like Clementine, Tyler and Freddie. Can't stand the names that end with 'den'. Gosh the names that irk me the most are listed on this thread. I don't like Otto, Rex, Theo, Leo as well. What else hmmm...

Unicorn717 · 02/01/2023 00:28

And normal names with extra letters added in them because the mum wanted to be different🙄.

Forthelast · 02/01/2023 00:29

Harvey
George

Dawn
Tracy

Ophelia

I hate deeming things ‘pretentious’ but it is. It makes me cringe every time it is discussed on here

a horrible namesake for a DD and a telltale sign that they haven’t read hamlet

Oh no, they haven't read Hamlet, will the world end??

@Wombat100

what was the purpose of starting this thread, it's only going to hurt people who have children with these names?

it's not going to narrow down naming options fir anyone.

it just seems unkind.

ThatshallotBaby · 02/01/2023 00:33

She is tragic.

shreddednips · 02/01/2023 00:34

I really can't bear Alice, which seems to be almost universally liked- so I'm probably the weird one. It's probably the vicar of dibley connection but it just sounds a bit daft to me.

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 02/01/2023 00:35

Caitlin for a girl. Not sure why!

My intention was never to be unkind, it’s just an interest thread that’s all. People can just ignore the thread if they like :)

My own name has actually come up so I guess that’s my karma :) I’m not upset though as I quite like my name - it’s just horses for courses, life would be dull if we all liked the same things I reckon.

Kaylie/kylie/Keely/Kyle.

I've just met too many of those type of names with big attitudes.

TimBoothseyes · 02/01/2023 00:40

Emily
Jack

They're just so boring.

TheYummyPatler · 02/01/2023 00:41

Amelia.

Just horrible. I cannot understand why it’s so popular.

harrassedmumto3 · 02/01/2023 00:43

I don't like Megan because it reminds me of eggs.
I hate the name Philip.
I'm not keen on names that are blatantly just surnames (Hunter, Cooper, etc).

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 02/01/2023 00:43

Nevaeh

smelliphant · 02/01/2023 00:44

I don't like the name Nevaeh, because I just don't really understand it. Is its origin really the word 'heaven' backwards, and if so why? I can't think of any other religious-word-spelt-backwards names, but maybe there are some 🤷‍♀️.

I think I might just be old and miserable though.
