So that basically…

My top 5 list -

Winter
posie
ceCe
Lux
Loveday

My husbands too 5 list -

Matilda
Jemima
Harriet
Louisa
Hannah

We have both vetoed each other’s list… not sure where to go from here to find a name we even like let alone love….

We were a bit like this with our first. I had Jemima, Louisa, etc and he had Holly and Lowri. We ended up with a Romilly, which was the one name we instantly agreed on. Our second DD has a name from my list as his tastes slightly changed.

There will be a name out there for you!

magicalorange · 08/12/2022 16:56

Oh god! Please let your husband choose their name for the child's sake!

In this situation I'd give full control to your husband - your names list would be vetoed by me too 😂

Same here, sorry OP!

The next person who uses the word 'hubby' is getting dunked down a well.

I’m glad someone said it!! such a 🤢 -inducing word 😂

mumonherphone · 08/12/2022 18:07

Autumn
Lily
Holly
Penny
Eden
Elena
Primrose

I'm coming round to your list actually.

Winter- Don't mind this
Posie- I know a Posie, full name Rosalind (I suppose via Rosie-Posie). I like it very much but maybe as a NN.
CeCe- I like this as a NN for Celia
Lux- Soap, no.
Loveday- A beautiful Old English name, I like it very much.

Although I initially thought you and your partner were miles apart, I'm not sure you really are- all the names on both your lists are beautiful (leaving aside Lux), his are a bit more conventional. I'm sure you'll be able to find something you both like.

BeanieTeen · 08/12/2022 18:18

In this situation you consider which name is kindest to give to a child, not a doll. Cece won’t be it.

Hero and Calypso? Xmas Shock

I love both of these- in fact, the whole list. Would add Astrid but maybe a bit too common these days.

Calypso makes me think of The Camomile Lawn and Jennifer Ehle in the bath 😁

IntentionalError · 08/12/2022 18:19

Isn’t Lux a brand of soap?

I think your husband has excellent taste in names, OP, and I think you should leave this decision to him.

Callieviolet · 08/12/2022 18:32

Thanks everyone so far- at least some of you like my names 😅
Posie - unfortunately, even with the longer possible names and Posie as the NN, this is the least likely name, as DH doesn’t even like the NN. 🤣
He likes CeCe, but with the longer versions, which I don’t like.
Great suggestions on here thank you. I have some more added to my list to throw at him later.

Laxmi?

A bit too medical sounding?

Sarahcoggles · 08/12/2022 18:37

OP I think it's telling that you've given your horse a silly name. It says a lot about you. You like quirky things. But this is a child you're talking about. She will have to carry this name with her through her adult life, most of which you probably won't be around for. Don't give her that cross to bear, on top of all of life's other hardships.

BoobsOnTheMoon · 08/12/2022 18:38

Rosalie?

KindergartenKop · 08/12/2022 18:41

@Chatrattoria she's a Hindu goddess...

Unicorn2022 · 08/12/2022 18:52

I'm sure I've seen the name Sienna shortened to Cece or Cici and I really like that - I think it's the name of the waitress in First Dates.

My first boyfriend was called Tim Loveday - I had no idea it was a first name but I used to dream of marrying him as I loved it as a surname.

All of your DH's names go so much better with Emily.

Unicorn2022 · 08/12/2022 18:58

I wouldn't name a baby Lux as it's an Instagram filter

BiscuitLover3678 · 08/12/2022 18:59

Cecilia - CeCe for short?

maybe something more traditional but quirky, like Violet?

BiscuitLover3678 · 08/12/2022 19:01

Hope
Blythe
Fleur

Cleopatra67 · 08/12/2022 19:06

@monsteronahill - me too!

EasterIsland · 08/12/2022 19:07

Well I’m with your husband All.The.Way

Are the names you propose names of CEOs or Prime Minsters??????

Pearfacebanana · 08/12/2022 19:07

Hey a name book and both tick the ones you like and see what matches. That's what we did when our tastes were v different. Just don't lose it in the hotel bar and spend a week trying to get it back....

I have a Louisa. Known as Lou Lou. I love it and whoever said it's so 2015 it hasn't made the top 100 for years!

Pearfacebanana · 08/12/2022 19:08

That should say GET a name book not HEY

Ffs

DaisyWaldron · 08/12/2022 19:15

I don't think the gap between your taste is as big as you fear. I had Loveday, Cecelia, Matilda and Harriet on my long list. In the end, DH and I found one name which we both loved.

reallyhatewinter · 08/12/2022 19:18

Please let your DH choose.
