Me and my partner have already decided on the name for one of our twin boys and he’s going to be called Ambrose.

we wanted opinions on which name for a bother would go best and we’re open for suggestions, on our list so far we have

Balthazar
Magnus
Oswald
Thaddeus
Solomon

Many Thanks

I like Ambrose.I had an uncle Ambrose, who shortened it to Amby. His brother was Frank.
I like all your other twins options. Maybe Magnus the most.

Ive twins and one advice is, give the second-born the first name alphabetically (so they're not always second in class registers etc).

Bartholomew, I wanted it for DS2 but it was vetoed (it's his middle name). Bram and Bart(y) has a certain ring to it.

Movelikewater · 18/05/2022 22:27

Love all your names. Wish my ex had been brave enough for an interesting name for our boys.

Augustus is a wonderful name, the one in my family always gets shortened to Gus or Gustus.

BanjoKnockers · 18/05/2022 22:31

Rupert?

crumpet · 18/05/2022 22:36

Luredbyapomegranate · 18/05/2022 23:44

I think if you want Bram then Abraham would be more obvious?

I like all the others (especially Balthazar) except Oswald - perhaps because it makes me think of Mosley.

Hector
Gawain
Rufus
Victor
Ernest
Julius
Levi
Jerome
Jethro
Philip nn Pip
Cedric
Harold nn Hal

Zachariah

Cornelius above is an excellent one

I'd go for Ambrose and Edward. As full names they won't feel ridiculous in teens or adult hood.

Please don't lumber someone for life with a name whose ridicule, smirks negative connotations they will never escape. Bram will always be Dracula at school. and Oswald will always be Mosley.

Livercool · 18/05/2022 23:58

Cream

Sorry op but that’s probably the worst list of names I’ve ever seen

ambrose just reminds me of Devon custard!

he’ll be teased for life

I'm so glad some one else thought this!!! I can literally taste rice pudding as I read the thread - bizarre!
Not something I'd chose to name a child in a million years but perhaps in your world it will fit.

Grumpylabrador · 18/05/2022 21:12

Benedict would be on our list but we have a close friend named Ben

Maybe he could be a Benedict nn Ned rather than Ben? Bram and Ned sound nice together.

If you don't mind me asking, as I have never had twins, how do you plan to choose which son has which name? Or will you decide when you meet them?

CousCousSalad · 19/05/2022 00:06

I do think Magnus is great, but it feels such a strong bold name that it really emphasises how wet Ambrose is.

Daisy62 · 19/05/2022 00:10

Ezra
Gabriel

ProclivityForPyrotechnics · 19/05/2022 00:35

@Watapalava agreed!
Balthazar??

Choopi · 19/05/2022 01:15

Is this thread what it's like to walk into a classroom at Eton and be introduced to everyone?

meowzeer · 19/05/2022 01:17

Custard...rice pudding?

dollymuchymuchness · 19/05/2022 01:21

Ambrose and Gabriel sound good.

MayMi · 19/05/2022 01:29

Vidal, which means life, I think would go really well with Ambrose ('immortal').
