It's fine. It was popular when I was at school so feels a bit dull/dated to me, but it's not a bad name. Fits in with Sarah, Claire, Rachel, Emma.

I like it a lot. I’ve never actually met or come across a Lydia in real life.

No, sorry! Pride and Prejudice probably biased me but it sounds a sly and sneaky kind of name. Also dislike that it has so many syllables for a fairly short name - it's jerky.

Plus no good short form. 'Lid' isn't great!

I think it’s lovely. It was on my list for my 4 year old as I think it’s a really classic and pretty name.

Lovely name. I have only ever met one Lydia, a cool teenager in the early 2000s.

Sorry it's awful :( Girl who used to work at our place, pretty 16yr old , got called Clamydia as a joke. Not funny but it'll happen.

Lid - clamyd. Nope. Just no!

It’s ok but just remember kids can be cruel and Lydia rhymes with chlamydia.

I have one. She’s never been called clamydia Hmm and I still love her name 15 years on. So does she! It seems to be an easy name to live with. The pride and prejudice Lydia didn’t put me off - my Lydia thinks she’s very silly!

So long as you are not planning a move to the west of Scotland its lovely

Up here she would get called lydia kettle (say it in a Glasgow accent if you don't understand)

Thanks all for your honest replies. I hadn’t thought about the fact it rhymed with Clamydia, I’m not sure if this bothers me that much as I guess all names can rhyme with something negative if you look hard enough. I like Lydie as a nn as agree Lid isn’t as nice. Would be great to hear from anyone called Lydia whether you like your name or not? I have a fairly popular (think Claire / Emma etc in the 1980s) name so wanted something a bit less popular for dd.

I love Lydia, both the way it sounds and the shape the word makes when written. I considered it for one of my children in the early 1990s, but a couple of my friends (who didn't know one another - a work colleague and someone I'd been at school with) picked it first. And I ended up having a boy.

I know a little Lydia. They have it hyphenated as Lydia-Mae which I think is nice together.
