I've always loved this name, so beautiful.

Kitkat151 · 18/01/2022 20:58

Yes like it

toastofthetown · 18/01/2022 21:08

It's fine. It was popular when I was at school so feels a bit dull/dated to me, but it's not a bad name. Fits in with Sarah, Claire, Rachel, Emma.

Snowiscold · 18/01/2022 21:16

I like it a lot. I’ve never actually met or come across a Lydia in real life.

Skeumorph · 18/01/2022 22:20

No, sorry! Pride and Prejudice probably biased me but it sounds a sly and sneaky kind of name. Also dislike that it has so many syllables for a fairly short name - it's jerky.

Plus no good short form. 'Lid' isn't great!

TataMamma · 18/01/2022 22:29

@Skeumorph...but Lydie is fine as a short form?

Piggy42 · 18/01/2022 22:31

I like it.

Ilikecheeseontoast · 18/01/2022 22:31

I think it’s lovely. It was on my list for my 4 year old as I think it’s a really classic and pretty name.

BasiliskFace · 18/01/2022 22:32

Lovely name. I have only ever met one Lydia, a cool teenager in the early 2000s.

Sarcobaleno · 18/01/2022 22:34

Pretty name and not very many which is a bonus

CoastalWave · 18/01/2022 22:37

Sorry it's awful :( Girl who used to work at our place, pretty 16yr old , got called Clamydia as a joke. Not funny but it'll happen.

Lid - clamyd. Nope. Just no!

HeartshapedFox · 18/01/2022 22:39

There’s a Lydia in school with my daughter and she’s lovely! Unusual and pretty name.

PinkSyCo · 18/01/2022 22:43

It’s ok but just remember kids can be cruel and Lydia rhymes with chlamydia.

MumsMeaningfulMayhem · 18/01/2022 22:44

Beautiful name 😍

Atypicaldancer · 18/01/2022 22:45

I have one. She’s never been called clamydia Hmm and I still love her name 15 years on. So does she! It seems to be an easy name to live with. The pride and prejudice Lydia didn’t put me off - my Lydia thinks she’s very silly!

frasersmummy · 18/01/2022 22:45

So long as you are not planning a move to the west of Scotland its lovely

Up here she would get called lydia kettle (say it in a Glasgow accent if you don't understand)

Roseandgeranium · 18/01/2022 22:45

Love it.

piney07 · 18/01/2022 22:48

Lydia sounds like a baddie to me but I’m not sure why!

GreyGoose1980 · 18/01/2022 22:48

Thanks all for your honest replies. I hadn’t thought about the fact it rhymed with Clamydia, I’m not sure if this bothers me that much as I guess all names can rhyme with something negative if you look hard enough. I like Lydie as a nn as agree Lid isn’t as nice. Would be great to hear from anyone called Lydia whether you like your name or not? I have a fairly popular (think Claire / Emma etc in the 1980s) name so wanted something a bit less popular for dd.

Lydia is a lovely name.

LiG123 · 18/01/2022 22:52

My sister is called Lydia. Lovely name especially being so rare.

KohlaParasaurus · 18/01/2022 22:59

I love Lydia, both the way it sounds and the shape the word makes when written. I considered it for one of my children in the early 1990s, but a couple of my friends (who didn't know one another - a work colleague and someone I'd been at school with) picked it first. And I ended up having a boy.

massiveblob · 18/01/2022 23:05

Love it

Fl0w3ry · 18/01/2022 23:10

I know a little Lydia. They have it hyphenated as Lydia-Mae which I think is nice together.
