Favourite nn for Elizabeth?

I'm starting to quite like Elizabeth, mainly due to the abundance of nicknames. My favourite is Beth I think. Someone suggested Tess could also be nn? What would your favourite nn be? Also, do you think naming your baby Elizabeth might make you sound a bit royalist??

My mum's name is shortened to Elsie

Betsy

Beth isnt a nickname of Elizabeth, that's stealing! Beth is it's own name - Bethany. Very cute name.

KirstenBlest · 16/12/2021 12:12

Of course Beth is a nn of Elizabeth @XmasSadface.

My favourite is Lizzie

If any of my 3 boys had been girls, there's a strong possibility they'd have been an Elizabeth! Love the name. My favourite nn are Beth and Libby.

Buffy
Betsy

I'm an Elizabeth and have had many nicknames, particularly more affectionate names when I was young from different family members. I am Liz now but am/have been called Lizzie, Lilly (lilly pad, lilly bear), ledibet, lidibid.
Others often shorten to Eliza...
Plenty of names!

TheGirlInTheGreenDress · 16/12/2021 12:21

My faves would be Eliza, Libby or Bet

Lulu1919 · 16/12/2021 12:24

Libby

MrsFin · 16/12/2021 12:27

I love Beth. Hate Bethany, though I like Bethan.

linerforlife · 16/12/2021 12:28

Beth and Betty

Mumoftwoinprimary · 16/12/2021 12:31

I like Libby. Dh likes Beth. Dd was nearly an Elizabeth. (But we couldn’t agree on Libby vs Beth!)

peboh · 16/12/2021 12:33

Betty is my favourite Elizabeth nickname.

hotmeatymilk · 16/12/2021 12:33

Tess is lovely, as is Lizzie. I’m less fond of Beth (but of course it’s a diminutive of Elizabeth, not only of Bethany).

Don’t think it sounds royalist – unless you use Lilibet…

OrangeAndYellowAndBlue · 16/12/2021 12:34

Beth, Bethan or Elise.

ElephantOfRisk · 16/12/2021 12:35

I think it must be the name with the most derivitaves:

Ellie
Eliza
Elise
Liza
Lisa
Libby
Lilibet
Liz
Lizzy
Isa
Issy
Izzy
Bet
Beth
Betty
Bunty

and loads more especially when you start to look in other countries.

Justgivemesomepeace · 16/12/2021 12:37

My friend is Elizabeth known as Liggy

Spikeyball · 16/12/2021 12:39

Elizabeth is my favourite girls name and we would probably have gone for Lizzie as a nickname but I also like Bess and Bessie.

Skeumorph · 16/12/2021 12:41

Definitely Beth or Betty.

Really dislike Libby!

Dislike Liz too - so drab

GoodnightGrandma · 16/12/2021 12:42

Betty, Nancy

SirVixofVixHall · 16/12/2021 12:43

I love Beth as a pet name for Elizabeth.
Elizabeth is an elegant name, lovely.

toastofthetown · 16/12/2021 12:45

If I used Elisabeth I’d use Elsa as nickname.

Flutterflybutterby · 16/12/2021 13:00

Tess isn't a nickname of Elizabeth? Elizabeth has enough nicknames, no need to make them up Grin

I like Betsy, Betty, Eliza, and Lizzie is growing on me

MrsMoastyToasty · 16/12/2021 13:02

Bette
Bessie
Lizzy
