Have you heard any recently that have made you do a double take? I know of two baby Jason's born in the last two years, the first of which I found very unusual, the second of which is making me think this is maybe coming back in vogue and I'm behind the times?

Nathan is fairly standard I think, I know a few little ones. It was on my shortlist.

I also have taught a few young (4 or 5 year old) Patricks in the past so don't think of that as surprising, although actually the last was over 12 years ago so maybe it's less common now.

Like a pp said, after teaching for a lot of years there's not much surprises me now.

'Talula Does the Hula From Hawaii' was a real name request for a bay that was denied Grin

mnahmnah · 15/10/2021 21:20

As a teacher I thought I couldn’t be surprised by names anymore. Then my brother told me his friend had a baby called Bruce.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 15/10/2021 21:20

Not a baby but I met a teenage Linda a few weeks ago.

OrangeJuiceAndNoodles · 15/10/2021 21:20

Watching, for anti-inspiration.

RootDeToot · 15/10/2021 21:20

I came across an Amber-Lynne this week. That turned my head. Grin She still had hers though.

Boris, Wolf and Edgar are three names I heard recently.
There isn’t anything wrong with any of them but I personally hadn’t come across them before.

Notthissticky · 15/10/2021 21:57

@Bonnytoon

Daniel. I know plenty my own age, but haven't taught a single one in the past 10 years.
Beautiful name, almost used it for DS2 but don't like Dan/ Danny. I teach one in year 8.

@ThirdElephant

Fenton did it for me. He was on a school trip and I did wonder if the teacher was having a laugh.

'Fenton! FENTON! Come here!'

There's a finton at my daughters school! Also Zed, Rune and eyre!

3 year old Brian.
Oceana. I think it’s a pretty word but such a big name for a little girl
Hamilton. I thought I’d heard wrong at first. Again, such a big name and when I saw the LO h just didn’t suit it.

Parsley1234 · 15/10/2021 22:12

Khaos WTF

TableFlowerss · 15/10/2021 22:13

@Tiredforfive45

I have taught a Tinkerbell.

She really suited it!

I wouldn’t have been able to stop smirking saying ‘Tinkerbell, have you got the I text answer?’ 🤣
TableFlowerss · 15/10/2021 22:13

The correct

@ThirdElephant

'Fenton! FENTON! Come here!'

Fenton was actually on our shortlist when I went into labour with DS, I kid you not. We loved both the name and that pesky labrador 🤣🤣
ISeeTheLight · 15/10/2021 22:19

Maximilian Decimus Surname. A friend's nephew. Was born in October apparently hence the decimus but it's all very gladiator.

HopelessSinking · 15/10/2021 22:27

EmilyEmmabob · 15/10/2021 22:29

Diesel and Tyke are 2 which stand out to me but not in a good way. Jimmy is another one.

MonkeyPuddle · 15/10/2021 22:33
