Have you heard any recently that have made you do a double take? I know of two baby Jason's born in the last two years, the first of which I found very unusual, the second of which is making me think this is maybe coming back in vogue and I'm behind the times?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@DressedUpAtAnIvy

I met a baby boy called Ian last year, and a baby girl called Lennon. There’s a Heracles in my daughter’s year.
I met a Lennyn in Utah once, I don't think her Mum's knowledge of European history was very good...
Maireas · 20/10/2021 16:46

I taught a girl called Nazi, pronounced Nazee, which I had to keep reminding myself about.
The family were Iranian, but it seems strange that they didn't consider European history.

DD is at nursery with an Alan, which I thought was quite an usual name for a little boy nowadays!

SylvanasWindrunner · 20/10/2021 17:32

*unusual

DiscoStusMoonboots · 20/10/2021 17:38

I have taught three Angels (each and everyone one hideously behaved) and an Ecstacy. She was great.

Maireas · 20/10/2021 17:56

Ecstacy with a "c"! I wonder if her name was a lot to live up to?
Alan is great.

Maireas · 20/10/2021 17:57

I teach a Diana, which, in spite of the princess, hasn't really been popular.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 20/10/2021 18:17

I bet little Ecstacy's parents are Etsy power sellers and wanted to acknowledge this, but were looking for something a little more formal for the BC name!!

Yorks1234 · 20/10/2021 18:25

I met a really cute Tallulah recently - never used to like it but she was such lovely girl.

Yorks1234 · 20/10/2021 18:25

Since Wonder Woman I have really liked Diana and I would like to use it if not for the Princess…

SameToo · 20/10/2021 18:34

Ptolemy

RestingStitchFace · 20/10/2021 19:02

Came across a baby Phoenix recently - apparently it's quite popular but it seems like a big name for a little baby.

I'm pretty vanilla when it comes to baby names, so easily shocked Grin

santabetterwashhishands · 20/10/2021 19:15

A boy called ice in my sons school

upaladderagain · 20/10/2021 20:09

Literally turned my head at "Slow down Bernard! Don't run too far" in our local shopping mall. He was about 3.

cafedesreves · 22/10/2021 22:36

My brother was at nursery with sisters Bunny-Love and Candy-Darling

Those are grim - they sound like sex toy names, or possibly 'adult' actresses.

girlmama86 · 23/10/2021 01:20

We were on a flight a few years ago and the three children sitting in front of us were called Barnaby, Quinn and Trixy. I've never met anyone else with those names.

peaceinourtime · 23/10/2021 10:06

I knew of a baby called Beanbag. Very strange, whether Beanbag was conceived on a beanbag, whose to know.

Gonnagetgoing · 23/10/2021 20:34

Is that like Michael Jackson’s son Blanket? Both are totally ridiculous names but I think Blanket was a nickname! Why would a registrar let a baby be named Beanbag?!
PoleFairy · 25/10/2021 17:07

So many of these names are on my list Blush love Ralph, Edwin and Woodrow! And love Dylan for a girl

Thedogscollar · 25/10/2021 22:23

@Tiredforfive45

I have taught a Tinkerbell.

She really suited it!

Sorry but nobody suits Tinkerbell apart from the "real" TinkerbellGrin

Troy.

KloppsTeeth · 28/10/2021 02:02

A neighbour has just had a baby boy called Leamington. Middle name is not Spa, disappointingly.
