Maci - Opinions Please

Maci is the only name my husband likes and we’re pretty set on it. His family love the name, but my family are not keen.

Would love to know general thoughts!

Is it the same as Macy?

I prefer the Macy spelling.

It's ok, I don't love it, but it's a nice enough name. It looks a bit unfinished spelled like that - the Macie I know spells it with an -e, and I've seen it spelled Macey too.

For a girl or boy? How do you pronounce? I assumed boy and ma-key so would say I'd go Malachi and shorten that but the sound is a bit close to Maccies as in Macdonalds

Pronounced Makki or Macy?

Maci- is this the girl's name Macy but spelled wrong?! I do quite like it when it's spelled Macy.

I've only seen it spelt Macy (like the US department store or singer Macy Gray) but I suppose the Macie spelling works too (in the style of more popular Marnie, Maisie etc) - not keen on Maci. I prefer the sound of both Marnie and Maisie but I think Macy/Macie will fit in fine with most of her peers names, it's just not my own taste.

Is that really the only name your husband likes? Out of millions of names? He seems very picky.

The name is okay but the spelling isn’t!

I read it as Makki and just thought Makki'ds (macdonals) sorry.
If it's pronounced Macey then I'd think you'd spelled it wrong.

Maci is fairly accepted in the US, I think - there is a fairly well known one from Teen Mom.

My first thought was also Maccie’s.
Is it Macy, is it Maccy? Is it a boy? Is it a girl?

My general advice is don’t tell family the name before the baby is born because it’s never good to have their opinions… but in this case they’re probably right.

I assume it's a girl's name. The spelling is just dreadful. Macey or Macy if you must, but definitely not Maci.

Maisie is nice though

Macey, Maci, Macie, Macy, Lacy, Lacey, Kaci, Kacey, Kacy….we have lots in our local secondaries, a lot of them with -Lee added to them, very common around here!
