Morning all,
So, c section booked for 2 weeks time and this baby boy doesn't have a name. We had decided on Rudy, but DH has now thrown Sidney back into the mix last min! It had been taken out of the running due to me hearing it three times down the park in the space of a couple of days and deciding it was too popular, but from what I can remember, that was the only reason it was taken off the list.
Middle name will be Jack !
I like both of the names, so I guess this is a bit of a poll rather than opinions, although I'm intested by those too...... Thanks ! X

Sidney for me
Where I'm from, Rudy is used in a different context like "Put your pants on, stop being a rudy".

emmathedilemma · 16/09/2021 08:34

I really like Sid, less of a fan of Rudy......nudey Rudy!

crumblebug · 16/09/2021 08:35

Sidney

HoldingTheDoor · 16/09/2021 08:37

Definitely Rudy.

Sidney is such an unattractive name. Sid is even worse.

BubbleCoffee · 16/09/2021 08:44

Sidney

I don't like the 'rude' sound in Rudy.

JamMakingWannaBe · 16/09/2021 08:53

Maybe choose from some of the other characters in the Ice Age movies?

Both great names! Hard decision. Rudy might just trump Sidney for me. Do love Sid though

PineappleWilson · 16/09/2021 09:04

I love Rudy, it has a very different, Caribbean or Eastern European feel (where it's short for Rudolph) to Sid, which feels very English to me.

Joolsin · 16/09/2021 09:05

Love both, but Sid is my favourite.

funnybones1234 · 16/09/2021 09:06

Rudy is such a cool name x

bloominglovelyorange · 16/09/2021 09:44

Love both!!! Honestly such a hard choice but I'd pick Sid

Amz6219 · 16/09/2021 09:45

I adore Rudy!

Quite like Sidney but don't like Sid at all

Pomegranita · 16/09/2021 09:51

It's Nudey Rudy!
Definitely go for Sid!!

SummerInSun · 16/09/2021 10:45

Rudy for me!

User147893 · 16/09/2021 11:24

I don't like Sid or Sidney.
I do like Rudy (and don't get the nude connotation, surely that would be rudey, although pronounced the same...).
I would say though that I would assume Rudy is short for e.g. Rudoph and not a full name.

User147893 · 16/09/2021 11:25

Also to me it is a Germanic name

BlueChampagne · 16/09/2021 12:05

Rudy

RuthW · 16/09/2021 12:13

Sidney.

Not keen on Rudolf and hate shortened names as full names.

Blubells · 16/09/2021 12:29

Sidney definitely.

Rudy sounds like Rude-y!

tothesea · 16/09/2021 12:30

I have a Rudi and no-one has ever said nude or rude to him! I also love Sid though so I’m no help!

Blubells · 16/09/2021 12:30

Sidney is much nicer than Rudolph

Pennylane87 · 16/09/2021 15:04

It's helpful to hear from someone who has a Rudi ! It's still winning in my mind Smile

Nudey Rudy is definitely not suitable as a British name. Who hasn’t told their kid they’re a Rudy for not putting their pants on?

Pennylane87 · 16/09/2021 15:07

Thanx for all of your replies so far. Just to clarify, he would be Rudy and not Rudolph ! Rudy on his birth certificate. X
