Give this poor child a break.

Hen2018 · 28/06/2021 21:20

And don’t go for Wren either. Ridiculous. You might as well use Thrush.

ufucoffee · 28/06/2021 21:21

Swan make kettles etc. That's what I thought of.

3totheright4totheleft · 28/06/2021 21:21

Lots of kids have animal names - Ant, Cat, Fox, Bear, Badger etc and even more have bird names - Wren, Robin etc

Hen2018 · 28/06/2021 21:37

Lots of kids are called Badger?

No, they’re not.

Unless they have a brother called Bodger.

omgthepain · 28/06/2021 21:40

Oh god no it's awful
Are her siblings going to be seagull and duck 🦆

TheRebelle · 28/06/2021 21:41

Who are all these children called Wren? I’ve never, ever heard it used as a name, is it for boys or girls or both (or in my opinion neither)?

No, they really don't.

Me neither.
RoseMartha · 28/06/2021 21:48

No.
Not a fan of Wren either.

I’ve never met any either, but it often gets suggested on here for girls.
omgthepain · 28/06/2021 21:52

Why don't people give their children proper names instead of naming them after birds, animals, fruit, (apple!!) Or names of things like river, beach, dune

Answer - because they haven't got any common sense and don't care about the effect it may have on their children in their later professional life

That is why

@userchanger have a word with yourself

Swan 🦢 for gods sake

Snoopsnoggysnog · 28/06/2021 21:53

There is a French boys name Swanny i think! Maybe you could use that? 😬

Snoopsnoggysnog · 28/06/2021 21:54

Wren is bloody awful, always gets suggested on here, I hate how it looks!

Terrazzo · 28/06/2021 21:55

There was a character called Swan in a book I read recently. I raised my eyebrows a lot initially but it’s a very calm and serene and elegant word so why not. People manage to accept everyone they meet’s names, they get over it pretty quickly. Never known anyone to be rude to someone’s face about a name, if they are they’re clearly a dickhead and if they do it behind your back then it may as well never have happened… if a tree falls in a wood and no one is around to hear it…

Synchrony · 28/06/2021 21:57

I wouldn't mind a baby called Swan as I like bird names. But I didn't realise it is an acronym for a medical condition so that would put me off now.

BanditoShipman · 28/06/2021 22:00

Why not Beaver?

EnjoyingTheSilence · 28/06/2021 22:18

Why? Just why?

You are naming a person. Not a pet or toy

SmidgenofaPigeon · 28/06/2021 22:24

I just had a baby girl while playing Sims 4 and I’ve named her Swan Grin

GingerBeverage · 28/06/2021 22:32

I know a Wren and I think it's sweet. They're cute little birds too.
Ren is a very popular name in Japan for both sexes.

OP - it will cause a lot of jokes, honestly if you simply must use it please consider as a middle name. It could work with quite a few:

Jessica Swan X
Harper Swan X
Olivia Swan X etc

championthewonderhorse70 · 28/06/2021 22:38

The woman was called Lizzie her surname was Swan
Sorry but it's just a bit crap

I'm 52 and we used to hang out with a lad called wren when I was mid/late teens!
