In answer to some posters, the baby Wolf I know is actually Wolfe, now that I think about it. His parents are academics, maybe it's after Wolfe Tone? Anyway he is an inquisitive and resilient toddler now and it really does suit him. Consider all the names we have which were originally vocabulary words in their original language: Rachel meaning a ewe; Alfred meaning Elf Counsel. I don't imagine those were descriptive as given names. I expect we don't all look at a clumsy Grace, an unfriendly Amy, and think her name jars with who she is; it has become distinct from the vocabulary word now.

It's just interesting that there are words still in use that we haven't yet, or somehow can't, disassociate from their meanings, like Navy, which was on these boards the other day.

Swanhilda is an old name that would give you Swan as a nickname.
You could also go for Odette a name from swan lake and use Swan as a nickname.

I actually like it but would use it as a middle name. There are a few online people I’ve followed for years who have kids with names I love, like Grey, someones son has Fox as a middle name, also Pebble as a middle name.
