Why op? You know it’s probably your hormones which will settle down.

SirenSays · 28/06/2021 18:54

It's definitely unusual, I read a book about a grisly old PI named Swan. It's the only time I've seen it as a name.
Please don't name a child Wolf. We had one in my year at school and he was so weird, like he felt he had to be extra "quirky" to live up to his bizarre name.

Mamanyt · 28/06/2021 18:54

I like it as a middle name. But do pick something with three syllables for a first name, it will flow better. And if she decides she LOVES "Swan," she can go by her middle name. My younger son does.

Beetlewing · 28/06/2021 18:55

Love it. If Wren is ok why not Swan?

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/06/2021 18:55

I really think you shouldn’t be able to register baby names until their at least 6 months old.

It’s not a nice name.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 28/06/2021 18:55

when I was pg with DC5 our kids decided baby should be called Yoda.
Yoda Shark for a boy
Yoda Yogurt for a girl.

I repeated that story so many times they didn't even sound strange by the end.

PattyPan · 28/06/2021 18:55

Truly terrible. You’re naming an actual human being who had to bear that name for their whole life.

Wolf is also terrible, but swan is worse.

ILoveShula · 28/06/2021 18:56

Ava is the same as Eve, isn't it, and nothing to do with birds.

Swan isn't a girl's name.

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/06/2021 18:56

I mean I have heard kids given odd names like that but in areas where the baby bottle holder on the buggy is used for mums can of Stella Artois at 10am.

'This is Swan'

'This is one what?'

SmidgenofaPigeon · 28/06/2021 19:00

If she’s a quiet child you can refer to her as Mute Swan

EleanorOlephantisjustfine · 28/06/2021 19:00

Utterly ridiculous. Please don’t do this to your child.

Palmatree · 28/06/2021 19:00

Nope, I wouldn't. Although to be fair, I'm not actually sure why it's any more ridiculous than calling your child Wren, Lark, Robin etc., all of which seem to be pretty trendy names at the moment. Maybe use as a middle name?

Hallyup6 · 28/06/2021 19:01

FFS. Don't be stupid.

CupOfTPlease · 28/06/2021 19:01

'Stop looking at me Swannnnnn!'

lottiegarbanzo · 28/06/2021 19:03

Plus, as the only bird with an erectile penis, thus used as a symbolic male protagonist in mythical stories about rape (see Leda and Zeus)... it's clearly a boy name.

Runningupthecurtains · 28/06/2021 19:05

I read a book about a grisly old PI named Swan. It's the only time I've seen it as a name.
@SirenSays was it not his surname? Swan is a surname and grizzly PI often go by their surnames.

MilkEyedMender · 28/06/2021 19:06

The nickname "Swan" in Fatherhood was given to the lady (Lizzie) by his elementary school daughter. Not as a serious name Confused

Tal45 · 28/06/2021 19:06

No Swan, no Wolf, no Bunny and no Seal (unless you're Seal and then it's really cool).

Icantrememberthenameoftheartis · 28/06/2021 19:10

I love it! But it looks like I’m the only person on here who does.

dogistoobigforthesofa · 28/06/2021 19:11

@ILoveShula It's both. See: www.babycentre.co.uk/babyname/1005371/ava

Higgeldypiggeldy35 · 28/06/2021 19:11

No sorry Op it's awful. If you like bird names how about Robyn?

maddiemookins16mum · 28/06/2021 19:12

FFS, don’t be so ridiculous.

MurdockTheMouse · 28/06/2021 19:12

Goose is better. There was a Goose in Top Gun…
