Hi!
What names did you love but just weren't brave enough to use?

DS’s name is on this thread. I can honestly say it never occurred to me that naming him this required ‘courage’ from either of us.

And I know quite a few children with other names listed — Miles, Summer, Water, Humphrey, Astrid, Ptolemy, Thomasine, Willow, Plum.

(Plum is a brat, though...)

holibay · 28/02/2021 13:39

@Mammaaof I have always loved the name Brie and don't think it's that out there. :)

Mammaaof · 28/02/2021 13:44

@holibay I think it's the spelling most people mis spell her name spelling it "Bree" and always ask me if her name is short for Brianna x

archofabridge · 28/02/2021 13:49

Gallinda.

2bazookas · 28/02/2021 13:53

Jason

DH rejected it "because it's a dog name. "

I'm so glad he did.

haggisandmarsbar · 28/02/2021 13:54

My children's names are on this thread, I don't think they required any bravery.

Balonz would be a brave name. Well some sort of name anyway.

Bumpsadaisie · 28/02/2021 13:55

Auberon

2bazookas · 28/02/2021 13:55
@GeorgiaGirl52 my little girl is called Brie. I had the piss taken out of me on here, even had a whole thread bullying the name( it was removed after a while)
Lifetime sentence as a cheese, oh dear.

2bazookas · 28/02/2021 13:59

@HearMeSnore

Persephone and Raphael.

I'll use them eventually, even if only for guinea pigs.

Er... good decision.

:-)

Sleepyquest · 28/02/2021 13:59

Lavender

Orphlids · 28/02/2021 13:59

@Enko, are you a big opera fan? I used to work in the same company as a woman named Aida. Everyone pronounced her name as Ay-duh rather than Eye-ee-duh. The first time I worked with her, I asked her if it was pronounced like the opera, and she said, all forlornly, that yes it was. She was just too shy to correct anyone. Both my daughters are named after characters from opera.

riotlady · 28/02/2021 14:04

@2bazookas

Jason

DH rejected it "because it's a dog name. "

I'm so glad he did.

I’ve never heard of a dog called Jason!! xD

I love Meadow, which was listed on the first page, and Persephone. We went with quite an unusual name so lots of these seem quite normal to me!

sallyedmondson · 28/02/2021 14:07

Gabriel

Lochmorlich · 28/02/2021 14:18

Blossom
Maud

Theodore, which isn’t brave but dh didn’t like it.
Jolyon, again dh vetoed.

corlan · 28/02/2021 14:23

Another one that chickened out of Boudicca.

FlosCampi · 28/02/2021 14:30

Tybalt
Allegra

Mammaaof · 28/02/2021 14:37

@2bazookas no need to be rude. It's suits her and wouldn't want to be a sheep and call her something common. She was actually named after the famous wrestler Brie Bella.

Crabwoman · 28/02/2021 15:01

Balthazar and Shoshannah.

Crabwoman · 28/02/2021 15:05

Also Dashiel.

TheVanguardSix · 28/02/2021 15:07

Isambard and Scheherazade

TheVanguardSix · 28/02/2021 15:09

Also Anais- not chickened out, but didn't think of it at the time we had DD.

SleepingStandingUp · 28/02/2021 15:11

Water???

I'm also assuming you're quite posh. You can get away with less typical names of you're posh compared to being wc

BikeRunSki · 28/02/2021 16:32

@TheVanguardSix

Isambard and Scheherazade
I do wanted Isambard. DS was always going to be Sam, but I so wanted it to be short for Isambard (I’m a civil engineer). DH convinced me it was the hormones talking, and we went for the more conventional Samuel.

There was a girl called Brie on neighbours wasn’t there? This was in the 2000s mind

Dutchesss · 28/02/2021 16:39
