Due a baby girl in 4 weeks and we have narrowed it down to 2 first names and two middle names. The middle names are both family names.

Which do you prefer? Which first name goes best with which middle name?

First names:

Darcy
Aeryn

Middle names:
Eleanor
Jean

Both first names are ok, I quite like Aeryn. It doesn’t go with Eleanor though, too much of a mouthful IMO.

To be honest I’m not that keen on Eleanor or Jean. I prefer Eleanor. So if it HAS to be a combination of those ones I’d go Darcy Eleanor. But think Aeryn Darcy is better.

PantTwizzler · 13/02/2021 20:05

Is Aeryn a variety of Erin or different?

I’d go for Darcy Jean.

jemimafuddleduck · 13/02/2021 20:07

Thanks both.

Yes, Aeryn is a variant of Erin, pronounced Air In.

Agree that Aeryn doesn't go with Eleanor although they are both lovely names, just not together.

Ewanispurple · 13/02/2021 20:10

Definitely Darcy Jean!

whiteroseredrose · 13/02/2021 20:10

Darcy Jean. Really nice.

MrsSugar · 13/02/2021 20:11

Darcy Jean.

I think Aeryn would be constantly mispronounced and she will constantly need to spell it to folk. It is nice tho. Jean just goes better with Darcy

FredaFlintstone · 13/02/2021 20:13

Darcy Eleanor - lovely.

Jean is just a bit bleh imo. And Aeryn Eleanor doesn't go, too many
'eh' sounds and hard to get your tongue round!

lalalalands · 13/02/2021 20:16

Aeryn Jean

Quercus3 · 13/02/2021 20:19

I know an Aeryn and she changed her name at 18 to Erin as she found she was correcting people all the time. So for that reason I'd go for Darcy. Eleanor and Jean both lovely for the middle spot 🙂

Folicky · 13/02/2021 20:19

I like Aeryn and would put it with Eleanor but change the spelling to Elinor .... Jane Austin fan I'm afraid 😚

KirstenBlest · 13/02/2021 20:20

Darcy - I don't like it at all and it is on a downward slide
Aeryn - too similar to Erin.

Chambored · 13/02/2021 20:22

I think Darcy is a bit common (as in lots of them)
Really like Aeryn, but will people just think it’s Erin, which will be incredibly annoying.

Agree Aeryn Eleanor doesn’t go. Too vowely and too many Ns.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 13/02/2021 20:24

Of the two Aeryn, as Darcy is quite trendy. But I'd still spell it Erin, even if you pronounce it more like "Air -in" (otherwise she will always have to spell it, which may well annoy her.) Erin Jean or Erin Jean Eleanor (if you want to use both) are nice.

tenlittlecygnets · 13/02/2021 20:30

I'd go for Erin. Looks prettier than Aeryn and easier to pronounce!

Not keen either middle name. How about Erin Darcy? 😃

jemimafuddleduck · 13/02/2021 20:36

Thanks all.

My concern about Darcy (as a couple of people have mentioned) is that it's quite common / popular. I do still like it though.

Part of the reason why we like Aeryn is the spelling, I wouldn't want to spell it Erin (although I take on board your comments).

Aeryn Jean

If it helps, I’m not familiar with that spelling but assumed it was probnnounced Air-in.

Yes there are rather a few Darcy/Darcies in our area too.

I wouldn't worry too much about her having to spell Aeryn, my name is extremely common and I've always had to spell it. The mispronunciation would drive me batty though.

Chunkymenrock · 13/02/2021 20:45

Darcy Eleanor

partyatthepalace · 13/02/2021 20:47

Aeryn Jean - tis v nice

Darcy is just downmarket to me. Eleanor is great but doesn’t go with Aeryn.

partyatthepalace · 13/02/2021 20:49

.... agree Erin is probably a more sensible spelling though.

And actually Erin/Aeryn Jean Eleanor does work if you wanted 3.

Julianamechange · 13/02/2021 20:50

Darcy Eleanor

Starlive23 · 13/02/2021 20:52

I've got a Daisy Eleanor which sounds lovely (to me at least!) I feel it flows really well but Darcy Eleanor would have the same sound. All nice names though!

TenThousandSpoons · 13/02/2021 20:53

Aeryn with either/both middle names.
Not keen on Darcy.

SleepingStandingUp · 13/02/2021 20:55

I like Aeryn but it doesn't go with Eleanor or Jean.
I think it needs a stronger sound for the second name

Aeryn Louise?
