Belinda, nick name Bee?

I want a traditional name that is unusual and not popular - ahead of the ‘come back curve’ so to speak!

Don’t like the very popular ‘granny’ names for the reason that they are too popular.

I really like it

stellarfox · 23/01/2021 20:54

Just so you know the popular podcast “my dad wrote a prno” main character is called Belinda. Might be something that people think of when they hear it

stellarfox · 23/01/2021 20:56

I feel like Dorothy may be what you’re after. Dotty is such a lovely nickname. Or Minnie I also love

Incyra · 23/01/2021 21:02

Yes, I think you're right. It's a nice name and definitely not in.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 23/01/2021 21:02

I love Belinda - I think it's beautiful sounding and the Bea nn is so cute. However I knew a Belinda at Uni and she hated her name, she thought it was too girly for her?

NotCornflakes · 23/01/2021 21:02

I love it!

mrstasty · 23/01/2021 21:03

Makes me think of My Dad Wrote a Porno Grin

redcandlelight · 23/01/2021 21:03

susan?

Scrunchies · 23/01/2021 21:04

@stellarfox Ive never heard of it - was it really well known? What could Minnie be short for? Unfortunately it just reminds me of the mouse

Belinda ("Bee") is lovely! I also like Miranda.

I think Dorothy and Margaret are also due a comeback.

Firebird83 · 23/01/2021 21:04

Lovely name.

Woodlandbelle · 23/01/2021 21:04

What about Elizabeth and use Bea

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 23/01/2021 21:06

Nice choice, I think Samantha and Maxine are due a comeback.

PeanuttButtaCup · 23/01/2021 21:07

Reminds me of my dad wrote a porno. The podcast is quite popular

DotDotDotDotDot · 23/01/2021 21:09

It would be so refreshing to hear of a baby Belinda to be honest, I say go for it. I also like Felicity and Lucinda, they feel kind of similar to me.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 23/01/2021 21:13

I like it, and I haven't met a Belinda of any age, ever. So I don't think it's overused for sure!

Scrunchies · 23/01/2021 21:14

Love love love felicity but it’s my best friends DDs name so can’t use it. Also my first is called Susanna so @redcandlelight you are spot on!

Dorothy and Margaret (Maggie, Margot) quite popular already around here.

Not that keen on Elizabeth but it’s a maybe. DH doesn’t like Lucinda but again a maybe.

Just never heard of this porno podcast but don’t want to name My daughter after a stripper!

I really like it! I have heard of My Dad Wrote a Porno though...think it is fairly well known. But don't imagine many people will remember it in a few years..?

Terracottasaur · 23/01/2021 21:15

It makes me think of the porno podcast too 😬 unfortunately it’s very popular - always top of the ‘most listened to’ chart

WTAFIhavelosttheferret · 23/01/2021 21:16

Belinda is not a traditional name. It is a modern name.
It was a total "chav' name in the 1970s.

Bee or Be a is generally short for Beatrice.

Flidina · 23/01/2021 21:18

Love Belinda, also like Lorna, Lorraine, Clara, Hester, Cordelia and Suzannah, Antonia, Celeste, Delphine, Estelle, Jessamine, Lydia

Scrunchies · 23/01/2021 21:20

@WTAFIhavelosttheferret given the 1970s were 50 years ago depends how you define modern...

Belinda is like Lorraine and Karen

I don't think any will be coming back

ofwarren · 23/01/2021 21:26

I really like it. Reminds me of the singer Belinda Carlisle.
I've never heard of the porno podcast thing either.

Takebackthepower · 23/01/2021 21:27

Hm not keen personally..i think its bit plain.. Beatrice is lovely
