Belinda, nick name Bee?

I want a traditional name that is unusual and not popular - ahead of the ‘come back curve’ so to speak!

Don’t like the very popular ‘granny’ names for the reason that they are too popular.

How about Rosalind, Rosemary, Rosamund, Felicity, Marion or Marianne?

tatutata · 23/01/2021 21:35

Adelaide? Caroline?

Lemonlemon88 · 23/01/2021 21:37

I'm not a big fan of Belinda but Bee is a cute nn. I also knew one who's nn was Bindy.

Bridget is lovely as is Bridie. Also Beatrix.

Milkshake7489 · 23/01/2021 21:40

I love Belinda!

I wouldn't class it as 'so out it's in' though. To me, names like Julie, Jennifer, and Lynn have more that kind of vibe (names of aunts and friends' parents i guess!).

Maybe it's because I've never known a Belinda so don't associate it with an age group?

whatausername · 23/01/2021 21:41

I like it!

perfectpanda · 23/01/2021 21:41

I'll never hear the name belinda again in the same way after 'my dad wrote a porno' . Or eat a pomegranate.

Lara53 · 23/01/2021 21:42

The only Belinda I know is in my DS year at school - she’s 17/18.

redcandlelight · 23/01/2021 21:43

I like belinda
or melinda if you want it to sound softer.

Swingometer · 23/01/2021 21:43

I like it and agree that it meets the criteria you are looking for

I would not consider it in the same class as Lorraine and Karen because its never been hugely popular (in the UK), I have come accross LOTS of Karens and quite a few Lorraines in my life but I only know 1 Belinda (lovely lady in her mid 30s and her name really suits her, a lot of her friends call her 'B')

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 23/01/2021 21:43

Amanda?

SimplyRadishing · 23/01/2021 21:44

Belinda is great? Go for it

stellarfox · 23/01/2021 21:44

@Scrunchies If you look back at early 1900s names Minnie was a full name. Although wonder if it came from Minerva originally.

Gladys or Joy?

Scrunchies · 23/01/2021 21:44

@perfectpanda what happened with the pomegranate 😳

Oh god does Belinda have the same vibe as Sonia and Brenda?!

Yes that's what I thought. An 80s name. I really don't like it but I seem to be in the minority! I have a bad 80s name so I think I'm a bit sensitive to them!

GlamGiraffe · 23/01/2021 21:46

Honour Belinda nn Honey Bee

Scrunchies · 23/01/2021 21:46

@Lemonlemon88 I’d never considered Bridget that’s a good one to think about
