Baby girl due in a few weeks and we are getting closer to a name but not there yet! I did post a shortlist a couple of months ago and feedback was helpful so thank you.

(I will caveat this by saying our taste is very much old fashioned names which we know won't be for everyone!)

Middle name will be Juniper with all the first name options.

Norah
Nancy
Mavis
Dorothy (Dot/Dottie)
Winnifred

Tavannach · 10/01/2021 15:09

Nancy or Dorothy. Don't like Mavis or Norah at all, sorry.

I'm not too keen on Winifred but I do like Winnie or Win as nn.

Retrogal · 10/01/2021 15:11

I love Clara.

My grandmothers were Winnifred and Dorothy - I like both of them.

I also have a Zilla, Marjorie, Lilian, Joyce and Ellen in the recent family tree

bravotango · 10/01/2021 15:13

Nancy from your list!

AndThenTheDayBecomesTheNight · 10/01/2021 15:13

Sylvia is lovely and goes very nicely with Juniper.
How about Lucille or Edith?

I think all the names on your list are tolerable but not lovely. Dorothy, Nancy and Winifred are the best, but I think they are all becoming quite trendy in a hipster sort of way.

Coldwinterahead1 · 10/01/2021 15:17

Daphne
Beatrice
Maude
Mabel

RandomGrammarPun · 10/01/2021 15:22

Love Nancy and Dorothy.

Winifred and Nora are both nice (spelled this way).

Not Mavis.

Love other suggestions of Sylvie/Sylvia, Margot/Margaret and Agatha.

Not Mabel. It's really, really popular.

daisypond · 10/01/2021 15:23

I like Mavis a lot.

gotyerhat · 10/01/2021 15:23

I love Dorothy and Winifred. They were on my list but vetoed by DH who has NO TASTE. I also love Agnes and Agatha. Good granny names.

Scaredykittycat · 10/01/2021 15:24

Dorothy is nice but don’t go for Dottie unless you’re going to pronounce the t’s!

I love old fashioned names. Both of my girls have old names x

SmudgeButt · 10/01/2021 15:30

Mom's family - Sarah, Florence, Gladys, Lillian. none of which I would choose frankly.

With a middle name of Juniper I might be tempted to have May as a first name. Has the added bonus of no possible nickname.

But it also depends on the surname...so May Juniper xxxxxxx

Kathleen and wait for it.... Euphemia ... think it will be a long time before that makes a resurgence..even granny was called 'mia' ...

catatecheese · 10/01/2021 15:45

I think Norah is short for Eleanor and Nancy is short for Anne so you may want to be authentic if going old lady.
