I am expecting lots of no's but we really like it. Have another son called Bodhi.

I'll start the no's!
Seriously, it's a nickname or one to keep for a cat. Can you imagine a grown professional man being called Ziggy?

abitfunny · 10/11/2020 13:25

@emmathedilemma I do get why people wouldn't like it. Although I know adults with unusual names and they get on just fine. Also just for lols one of my close friend's cats is called Ziggy. She is now saying she likes it too for our unborn child...

Don't do this Hmm

funkylittleboatrace · 10/11/2020 13:28

I'm a massive massive massive Bowie fan... Don't do it

LadyCatStark · 10/11/2020 13:30

It’s a no from me.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 10/11/2020 13:32

The cartoon strip or Ziggy Marley (real name, David).

thirstyformore · 10/11/2020 13:33

Nope......nn, maybe. Proper full given name on birth certificate? Absolutely not.

Tavannach · 10/11/2020 13:33

I know a Ziggy, but it's a nn for Steven.

littleeggcup · 10/11/2020 13:33

I love it!!

Aethelthryth · 10/11/2020 13:36

Ridiculous. It may be cute for a toddler; but he'll never be taken seriously as an adult

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 10/11/2020 13:36

Stardust/Bowie for me. I wouldn't bat an eyelid if it was a middle name they went by day to day/a nn but would find it a bit Hmm as a first name.

OpEd · 10/11/2020 13:38

Wasn't there a character in Hollyoaks called Ziggy?

abitfunny · 10/11/2020 13:38

Wahhhhh so many no's!

(Still not put off)

pickleface · 10/11/2020 13:39

I love it

coffeecow · 10/11/2020 13:39

I know two Ziggys. One as a nickname for Ian (don't know why!) and one who is still a child. I don't love it.

GoodbyePorpoiseSpit · 10/11/2020 13:43

I like it.
Also like:
Zephyr
Zebedee
Have a friend who has a Bodhi and he has a baby bro called Sid :)

Flappingflamingo · 10/11/2020 13:51

My first thought was stardust very quickly followed by no chance. Then, Ziggy from big brother, it was still a no but just discovered his real name is Zachary. So whilst as an actual first name it's a big definate no from me, its a cute nickname

Terriblecreature · 10/11/2020 13:52

Love it and it goes with Bodhi 😊 much prefer that over another boring top 10 name

abitfunny · 10/11/2020 13:56

Thank you @Terriblecreature we also liked Sonny but Ziggy is my fave, We have quiet a few 'traditional' relatives so I can't see it going down well at all.

Lookfortheheros · 10/11/2020 13:56

I absolutely love it. My first boyfriend at college was called Ziggy. He was a great guy..

Lookfortheheros · 10/11/2020 13:57

It was his real name too!

user686827 · 10/11/2020 14:04

I love it. I've come across one or two before but not for a while.

Tinacollada · 10/11/2020 14:05

No

EssentialHummus · 10/11/2020 14:08

Another vote for Zephyr. Ziggy to me is the short form of Sigmund, not sure that's what you were going for!

WeAreFromThePlanetDuplo · 10/11/2020 14:09

I'm in theory a fan of most names that divert from the Oliver/James/Daniel/Thomas/Jacob mush, but for me the stumbling block is that Ziggy isn't actually a name, whereas Sonny and Bodhi are.
