Do you know anyone with my potential baby name

Hello,
Esme is the frontrunner for our baby's name.
But I'm a bit confused as to whether it's popular or not. It's currently mid forties on the charts but when I've spoken to people they say that they know of quite a few.
Could be regional thing?

It would be great if you could let me know if you know any (and their ages) and also if you don't know any at all!

Thanks

My DD 7 months! I love it (biased!)

Zoflorabore · 27/10/2020 20:29

One was in my brother’s class at primary school who is now 40/41, very unusual then.

I know one who is 9 and another who is 9 but is pronounced Esmay.

As far as I’m aware there are none in my dd’s primary school in the NW ( I’m on the PTA and also volunteer there )

It’s a nice name Smile

One woman about seventy and another I’d guess about 45.
Two about 25.
One must be about 17.
One about ten.

dizzyness · 27/10/2020 20:34

I know of one. A woman in her 90s!

TulipsandDa1s1es · 27/10/2020 20:34

1 family member (DHs great niece). she is 6 and her parents take huge offence if its pronounced "es-may". i once pronounced it this way when she was first born (we had only seen it written down on a text before then) and had their 11 year old DS sneer at me and say "who is esmay? its es-ME". Hmm. beautiful name but forever associated with this moment in my mind now

Howmanysleepsnow · 27/10/2020 20:36

1, age 22, NW

BertieBloopsMum · 27/10/2020 20:37

I know a 16 yr old Esme. South East England.

AugieMarch · 27/10/2020 20:38

I know one who is 7. She and her family pronounce it es-ME, whereas I grew up with a neighbour and another family member named Esme who both pronounced it es-may (different regions so different pronunciations).

I have a DD called Esme, she is 1. I love it, it was my Nan’s name and I always said after she passed if I had a girl I’d use it. However with the whole Twilight fad I was a bit put off as the name has became much more popular and used. But it’s a gorgeous name I don’t for one second regret using it Smile

Oh and we are in London
